I am building a .308 rifle. I am going to be shooting out to 1000yrds on a steel plate. My goal is to hit it. I also may shoot in some tactical matches. The features I am looking for are: FFP and horus retical. I have been looking at the Bushnel elite 20x and 30x. The price diffence is only about $300. My budget is around $2000.

Question: If I go for the 30x scope will I loose anything such as clarity. I understand it will be heavier. I have been told and read that the better one can see the target, the Easier it is to hit it.

Question: Any other scopes around $2000 with FFP and horus( or somthing comperable)reticle.

THanks

Since 20X is plenty good for 1k I would go with it because the lower end is more important to me. 2.5-10's 3.5-15's 4-16's are my choices for field guns and can still do great at 1k

If it is a dedicated target rifle then things would be different. But a rifle used in the field for less than perfect conditions changes things. I have several NXS's 5.5-22's that I like but if I was to only have one then I think the 3-20 range is about perfect.
Good luck
