So I need a realtime camera to mount facing behind my stands - I have decided I want to see all of the monsters moving behind me.
Because of course, since I don't see any in front of me, that's where they are.
Anyway - I'm to lazy to research the 20,000 or so camera options. For wireless cameras - if I use my phone as a hotspot, would I be able to use an ap (that most cameras come with) to view them real time? This would be offnet - ie, no internet or cell service.

Two things to note: I'm a cheapskate, and I am developing a hatred for technology in general. I don't have a lot of patience for technical tomfoolery.

I’ve stood up and taken a piss with deer in front of me, just turn your head and look behind you once in a while?

They are dumb dumb creatures and you can get away with a lot around them

You have way different deer then we have in the UP then. If we don’t #1 control our scent and remain camouflaged those deer lock on to you

You stand or move and they’re gone

I think a lot of deer behavior ("spookiness") is going to be based off of hunter pressure.

I don't know of any real-time camera setups that will notify you as fast as a Ring doorbell etc..., but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Most of us 'poors' that use cell cameras (me included) get updates in about 1-2 minutes. I imagine they have options for dudes who like to pay a lot to not have to turn their head.

Those damn squirrels...

I had used a ReoLink camera from amazon as a trail camera for a bit, I had a cellular version and used a sim card to get it service. It worked well but downloading every video was slow.

They might have something that would work via hot spot, something to look into

A few unorganized thoughts....

Get an old school wired setup and stick the camera out the back door and the monitor inside, you'll need power.

Get one that Bluetooths to the phone so you don't need service/net.

If you don't have service, you won't have hotspot.

Deer act different. The ones in south Alabama don't keep their heads down to eat. They grab a bite and look around frantically while they chew and live a life of panic worse than a rabbit. I swear if I fart in CO they'll prolly spook in AL. Deer in CO for the most part are pretty chill.... until second rifle season.

Mule vs Whitetail too.

I have walked up slow within 20 yds of a feeding mule deer doe, not in an area rich with people walking around.
Not hunting season.

Whitetail run in Nebraska where I hunt when I flush at home in CO. No matter the time of year. Worse once gun season starts.

Or just learn to look around……

Swear I have lost IQ points reading this.

@zeroz - yall set for tags and plans?
Im pretty much working or hunting till mid Jan. Then will try to squeeze in a pig trip before OOS spring bear opens.
