Hey guys been lurking a while and getting ready to put together my first Long range capable weapon. I have a quick question Im hoping someone can answer for me as Im new to bolt rifles coming from an AR perspective.

Im thinking of getting a Rem 700 AAC-sd in .308 and putting the action into a new stock. Ive found one in the classifieds here on the hide that is a manners stock that was bedded and inleted for surgeon bottom metal by moon at GAP. Will I be able to take the action from the factory Rem 700 Id be buying and put it into that manners stock that has already been bedded and inleted or will the stock have to be re-bedded for my action?

Thanks for any and all help!

A previously bedded stock is mated to that action. Replacing the action in no way guarantees that the machines surfaces will be perfectly matched. Re-bed first then shoot.

I would remove 1/32 of an inch(roughly) from the area behind the recoil lug and scuff the heck out of the rest of it with coarse sandpaper and wipe it down with rubbing alcohol.

Be careful you don't raise the action in the stock when you rebed.

I'd try it first to see how it shoots.

I dropped an action in a return stock without re-bedding it and it shoots incredibly well.

Maybe I just got lucky.
