I am going to load some ammo to shoot this Saturday. I will be using some once fired Federal brass, RL-15, a CCI primer and a 175gr SMK.
This load will be fired in a DPMS SASS.
Is the COAL of 2.8" still good, or is there a different length to use in a .308 AR rifle?
What is mag length considered to be? Is every mag different or is there one length that is used for all of them?

Re: Cartridge length for SASS question

2.8" will work just fine.

You may want to bump them out to about 2.815". A nominal length of 2.815", with an absolute max due to meplat varriations of 2.820" is what we load to.

This will function in all 308 ARs, and magazines, with the exception of the magazines made by DPMS. POF, Magpul, Armalite, M14, Knights, etc all will accept the longer cartridges. Also this is about the same as the military M118LR round's oal.
