Anyone use the Competetion Electronics ProChrono? Any issues reading the screen from 10 ft away? It looks like the highest rated chrono for the price on Midway. I really like the IR remote as well.

The ProChrono is good to go. I have good eyes and could easily read the screen from 15' away. It's nice to be able to review your string of shots and not have to write them down all the time.
Be advised though that all chronos get weird with the direction of the sun. I've never tried the IR kits before, but I've had four different types of chronos.

I use one and it works well. Easy to set up and use, screen is easily visible from 12-15 feet away. I use it on a cheap Walmart tripod.

My ProChrono gives me weird numbers - too high a spread on a decent bunch of ammo.
Any idea how to calibrate or verify its calibration?
Anybody compared his ProChrono with a more "renown" brand such as Oehler?

The ProChrono Digital is absolutely good to go. Sure it's not the most expensive, but in this case you get some serious bang for your buck. The ProChrono so far for me has worked in several different light conditions and always given accurate readings.
I can read the screen from 15-20ft away. It's not backlit, so if it's overcast you might have trouble reading 15+ away.

I've had the CED M2 and the Chrony in the past and the PCD is a much better product. If you want to bling it up, you can get a long USB cable & software kit from the manufacturers to connect to your laptop.

I see some people are using the words 'accurate'
accurate compared to what?
Some people on my other thread compared a Shooter Chrono with their Oehler, and the speeds were closer with that compared with the Pro Chrono...

taseal, thanks - and you bring up my own question! I am consistently getting the numbers out from ProChrono - that's not the issue. The numbers themselves are not very consistent, and I'm frustrated that there's no way I can think of to validate those numbers (and/or to calibrate the unit).

I used my ProChrono Digital again today, poor light conditions and still worked beautifully! It's so easy to setup and use, takes all of 30 seconds and I'm shooting chrono.
Mine is "accurate" compared to the load data that is posted in my Hornady book for the exact load I'm shooting. That's good enough for me.

My ProChrono works well. It has given me good data during reloading that seems consistent with what the load is doing. I've used it on my loads (and other peoples) to get velocity that has put me on target (and others) at 930yds and 1300yds. (Using Ballistic on my Ipod touch and using atmospheric data from my kestral.)
I've stacked up my ProChrono and a buddies ProChrono and have noticed a subtle shift in velocity. Shooting 44 mag. They were set up about 3-4' apart, which might have accounted for the shift. It was somewhere around 15ft/s. Both however maintained that offset exactly so shot for shot the numbers never varied more than that shift. To me, I interpreted this as both giving good consistent data that is perfectly fine for reloading.

I hear ya.... They are all comparable. the oehler is what sets the standard. It's far down my list, but is an important tool to get good load development I think...
Personally I think I need a good range finder before a very accurate chrono
