I will be the first to admit I am ignorant on this subject therefore I will come to the expert desk for this question.

308 bolt gun--- What effect does the chamber size have to do with accuracy?

I would think that it is impossible to reduce the size of a chamber once it has been made whereas you can always hone a smaller chamber larger if it is to tight.

If the cartidge is sized to small for the chamber I could always have a set of dies made that would allow the brass to be a few thousands larger to fit the chamber tighter.

Does this make sense or am I way wrong?

Re: Chamber diameter VS Accuracy

New brass is usually smaller than even a match chamber. I am only talking about the body of the case as chamber necks can be made "tight". Once you fireform the brass it pretty much matches the chamber dimensions minus a thou or two. You can choose to only size the neck when you reload to keep as tight of a fit as possible. But after a few more fires the brass will begin to chamber hard where a full size is necessary. Most folks just set up their full length die to bump the shoulder back two thou and run the cases trough after every fire. Its easier to stay on top of the brass dimension that way.
