Looking for the pants with the easy to remove knee pads. Just something I'll wear to shoot in. Trying to save my knees without wearing bulky knee pads. Not looking to spend high dollar.

Duluth trading Post firehose pants. The ones for the cargo pockets and slots for knee pads. 70-80 bucks as I recall. I've been wearing two pair for the last year for PRS matches and they've held up very well. Stretchy, but tough.

Timberland Pro Son-of-A-Pant pants. They're a hybrid between carpenter pants, and the heavy logging style pants. Heavy cotton, triple stiched, pockets everywhere, etc. They have a layered knee, with a debris opening on the bottom that you can slip foam rubber into. I ordered them from Sierra Trading Post for less than $20 a pair with free shipping. Dark brown and black color choices. Dickies made a tactical pants that was really good, and inexpensive, but it looks like they've been discontinued now, but you still can find them online.

Here's another model of the Timberland Pro pant that looks promising:

Dickees have a gusseted crotch and butt plus knee pad pockets. Most comfortable pants I’ve ever warm. Got them as work pants but wear them all the time now.

$90 for the pants???? And the knee pads are out of stock.

I usually buy them on sale and got a couple sets for $50.

$90 bucks for these pants aint bad when you consider all the pockets, features and fact they are camo "tactical" cool.

LBX is out of pads for some reason. I bought the $21 Crye option and they fit the pad pockets just fine.

Ill be using the pants/pads next week for a carbine class in a concrete floor environment.

I think Ill be glad I got them.

Cheapest knee pads are old computer mouse pads. Next cheapest are the 511 that looks just like a funny shaped mouse pad. Bought some british mil surplus that had the mouse pad wannabe's...
There are several pants options listed here, designed to use the mouse pad wannabes.
Any of the acu and later variant fatigues have pad pockets and cargo designs that are match friendly, and cheap.
Best to you.

At Sportsmans Warehouse, the Rustic Ridge tactical plant runs $45, they don't have the foam but they have a knee pad pocket. Built fairly well and a lot cheaper than other options

5.11 pants come in a large variety of materials and designs and they generally have a pocket in the knee. These are good shooters pants. Cargo pockets, metal ring, mag pocket on left thigh. Depending on the type, they make a LOT. I wear these a lot now, and my buddy gets the least tactical looking ones and wears 'em as part of his uniform for his floor cleaning business. I like the looser ones with cargo pockets and don't really use the loop or mag pocket much, but it has come in handy for lights and other stuff at the range. I have 'em in all sorts of material from ripstop to canvas duck to nylon. They all have their benefits I guess. They come in all sorts of colors and even camos, price is usually not too bad, especially if you wait for a sale from Quantico (something Outfitters now). They have one fairly often. Some guys knock 'em, but worth checking out. I know they make firehose material pants too.

The best built in external knee pad are the Crye combat pants but they're not cheap. Sometimes surplus stores will have 'em a lot cheaper though, especially if the pads are missing. Regular ACU's and multicams will have pockets in the knees too.

But none of those except the Crye really help the knees. They just use a replaceable foam insert and that doesn't do much. I have some but never use 'em, still in the bag. What you should do is get a pair of military knee pads, either the old skater type in the surplus stores (I have these) or the newer more expensive ones if that's what you want. A padded gel pair can be had at Home Depot for $7 and they last well and are the most comfortable ones I've ever used, so if comfort is an issue, get the padded thick gel pads at the hardware store.

Wore my LBX pants usng the Crye knee pads, the cheap ones, for first time ever paired up today.

Concrete floor.....they were appreciated when in the kneeling.

Wasnt surprised they worked for their intended purpose but I was surprised how warm they were.

It was like having two chem heaters over my knees.
