China - something is up?

Just had a phone convo with my aunt's side of the family last night (noon over there). Whatever it is going on right now, it is pretty much hushed up tight in the upper levels. CCTV 24 hour broadcast is still running the same programs, BUT, Xi Jinping has not appeared or given a speech in the last 48 hours. Usually he always issues a statement every day or so. Two days ago, Shanghai and other large cities mandated that no privately owned vehicles are to be parked within a certain distance of government buildings and they issued a time limit for people to go move their cars and trucks away. That is probably because of the explosions. At least one had been caught on security cam and the people responsible for that one is still at large. A health checkpoint with three officers and a civilian employee was obliterated. There have been at least 2 other attacks across southern China, where those checkpoints are the most prevalent, with fatalities. Other than that, the lid on regular news sources are extremely tight. October 1, Independence Day, is coming up and officials are fearing a HUGE attack somewhere. You can't even fly postal drones in Beijing, the whole airspace is locked down.

They brought it upon themselves. You weld people into their homes, beat their pets to death, starve people, drag elderly and children into camps, the fuck do you think is gonna happen to you, huh? And now yall gonna be turning every corner in utter terror that at any second, a wave of superheated air traveling at 5-6 times the speed of sound is gonna vaporize yo' fucking loser asses, the fuck you gonna blame except yo' selves?

From the people of China who just wanted to be left alone and asked politely to be left alone to the CCP:

You heard that right homie. Halloween is coming and the ghouls are out creepin'. It's gonna be a scary muthafuckin' time for a lot of goofy ass niggaz. Muthafuckas that made their bed, now prepared to get buried in it.

Meanwhile, Xi, who arrived back in China’s capital on Sept. 16 after meeting with Russia’s Vladimir Putin at a regional summit in Central Asia, didn’t appear at the Beijing meeting but relayed instructions that the armed forces should focus on preparing for war.
Maybe this is closer than we thought and this is China protecting before the launch.

I know going into the place it's going to be shit, but after talking about it I went there today for the first time in years. I swear it used to be a lot better, shit sucked way more than I anticipated.
I may not be able to tell anything because we eat there sort of regularly. I still love it though

So is this bad or good for the people of China? Or is this the possible beginning of something that can be better (or worse) for the people? Its not like the CCP is an elected bunch correct?

My question exactly. I don’t think the CCP is really good for anyone ever…

So per this dude, there is a coup, but some of Xi's loyals are holding still holding some places.
That's not what I took away from it, all the twitter posts and pics were sarcasm. Something going on but all the panic posts of fleeing and full fledged coup are exaggeration.

$100 says any type of power change will be good for the Chinese people. If Xi makes it out current freedoms will be ratchet down because security. Same if someone else takes the top spot. This is not the beginning of some democratic populist transition.

Name a regime in power that is? A benevolent gov’t is a myth/fantasy. It’s a control mechanism that people are raised from birth to submit to.
Relatively speaking, certain forms of government allow for more liberty than others.

However, people are naturally evil and therefore a governing body will naturally do what is best for them and worse for those governed. Our government is predicated upon the people (and by definition, our rulers) being a moral people. We have rejected moral absolutes (let alone Biblical principals) and here we are

Heard from a China man who is married to my Thai friends daughter who lives in Thailand, that China is indefinitely shut down. Trains, air travel etc.

Couldn’t get a good description of why, but HE seems to think the Russian announced mobilizations and potential escalation is causing many to flee Russia into China and they are locking down.

Take that with the 3rd hand gain of salt that it is.

Disagree with your Hobbesian view entirely.

I’ll have to go with John Locke and to an extent Wade in his views.

People are generally good and will do the right thing. Of course culture plays a role in that.

The right culture could live ungoverned.

It is incompatible culture and small percentages that fuck this place up.

Unfortunately our govt has weaponized these bad cultures and personalities against us.

My view does not come from Hobbes but that is beside the point here (although I suspect it is ultimately why we disagree).

You’ve got the freedom to believe what you want and so do I. I’m thankful for that.
If people are good, we should have good cultures. It’s not logical to state that a culture made up of good people suddenly negatively impacts the individual.

You state that a good culture is ruined by a minority of small percentages. Would these “small percentages” have such an impact (ruin a society) if it were not the natural tendency of the rest of the culture to be evil as well? It seems to me that if the rest of culture were naturally good, the culture could resist the evil until it dies out. However, we see the exact opposite.

I do agree the right culture under perfect circumstances could live ungoverned, but I do not think we will ever see a society like that. I also agree our current government has pushed the right buttons to (a) stay in power and (b) keep people preoccupied with disagreement rather than the corruption at the top.

I also agree that China sucks, and unfortunately any change of power probably works out negatively for the Chinese people

Our culture used to absolutely shun for bad behavior and had equal application of just law for violators.

It had its problems but as of late has gone shithouse.

We are letting bad decisions which should result in bad outcomes be supported and to a degree succeed to the detriment of society in order to maintain political power and to eliminate a system that for 240 some odd years provided the individual with the best opportunity to pursue their desires and experience the opportunity to succeed.

For over 100 years likely more evil individuals have eroded that culture and rule book to get us where we are now.

Good people suffer fools kindly. Not putting the crazy in their place early in the name of “peace” and avoiding conflict is why we are here.

Just in case no one has said it yet…. Fuck China….

Reminds me of a time me and a buddy went grocery shopping for bar-b-que things a while back.
My buddy Billy (yes, his real name) is a big boy, about 6'6" or so and a bit over 300 lbs.
Some little asian dude was not watching where he was going and bumped his cart into Billy.
The poor little dude must have about wet his pants when he kept looking up and up to look Billy in the eye.
I swear to god the little dude said "So sorry" just exactly like the stereotypical shit.
Billy looked down and said "Rokie Dokie".
I rarely get a good laugh like that....we were both rolling.

Hopefully they’re getting themselves a lil muzzie terrorism. It’s long overdue

Fuck china. They released Covid to quell Hong Kong and fucked the world. It would be cool if they nuke themselves.
Why would they release it in the city where their bio lab is located. If it was intentionally released, more likely it was released by US gov or non-gov org.

Fuck China, agree on that.

As of now, it seems like it is either blown out of proportion on an Indian tabloid news site in response to the massive security protocols that the CCP are placing for October 1, or, this is a method by Xi Jinping himself to root out anybody in his inner party circle who may harbor intentions against him. A military coup within the CCP will not bring much benefit to the Chinese people unless it was a military coup launched in unison with anti-CCP militias and rebel forces which had managed to get several units of PLA to switch sides too. Almost happened in 1989 at Tiananmen Square with the 38th Army Group.

Thank you for your input.

You got it. And also to add, any active resistance right now is still limited in the form of lone wolf attacks against local police and magistrate targets. They can be debilitating for the regime, as that hit on the Guangzhou checkpoint pretty much drove the rest of them into utter paranoia, probably due to the yield and effectiveness of the device that was deployed. In the long run though, the current and rapidly growing cynicism of the Chinese population towards the CCP and the "bai lan" or apathy and silent refusal to be involved in government sponsored projects will seriously cripple the powers to be. Since 2021, the government had been desperately urging young people to get involved, join the military, join CCP employment opportunities, etc., and so far these pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

Sum Ting Wong?

Sum ting VERY wong...

China's birthrates and marriage rates plummet at uncontrolled freefall:

Young people opting out of marriage and not starting families at record numbers. The CCP is so terrified that they have been relentlessly pumping propaganda into the networks urging people to have more kids, but the reality is, with all of the lockdown shenanigans, bank corruption, mortgage scams, etc., people are simply coming to the conclusion that it is unwise to invest in any future planning, and thus putting things like marriage and families on hold indefinitely. There is no certainty and no sense of security in a country where the government is essentially running a giant Ponzi scheme with it's finances and politics. People are catching on quickly. Just because the state censors scrub social media trends does not mean that cynicism and absolute suspicion can be quelled. It is called a "black pill", and it is the quickest growing trend amongst China's young people, and their actions are pretty much telling the Communist Party to "grow old and die alone, we will not be taking care of you or even coming to visit you".

Xi is just a byproduct of communist mindset. One Xi being replaced by another Zi, Pi, Ki etc etc, is meaningless IMO. More importantly the communist/socialist mindset is gaining ground in free world, at a rapid rate.

This sounds eerily similar to what's happening here in the USA.

Maybe.. someone wanted to move on Taiwan and someone figured they already owned the USA so why bother.
Maybe someone is trying to remove the person who they are having the disagreement with.
Game of thrones; china version

Xi appears!

Guess the only question now is do they invade Taiwan before or after elections?

Same question with nukes in Ukraine and elsewhere.
