Code Blue and the long recovery

Raven, congrats on the recovery. Stay tough and pull through this. Like @1J04 said, there's a lot a people here lately dealing with health issues that can sympathize with you (and yeah, like Veer, I'm one of'em).

Gotta go get my full brain MRI (w & w/o contrast) this afternoon, then off to see the neurosurgeon on the 20th for the final consultation before a final decision on how to treat the golf ball sized tumor they found in my head 6 weeks ago.

Stay tough, stay positive and fight.

+1. And if you can't get off the X, dig in and squeeze that trigger until you hit lock-back. That's all that any of us can do.

Summbitch, I'm sorry to hear that Marine. Get after that bastard. Cordless drill and a shop-vac with the crevice tool looks good, don't it?

Day 22, I'm home and exhausted,we had another trip to the ER for test, bla bla.
This is going to be a minute getting back to normal "what ever that is".
The real fucked up part about all this,I live a pretty good life.
No drugs, booze or sloppy foods.
Go figure

Still extremely weak,TTYL s

I had my discharge visit today from the visiting nurse. One more milestone. And that's what recovery is: a set of incremental short-term goals. Don't concentrate too hard on the long-term, which takes care of itself by and by.

Ravenworks,

Holy shit! A "rountine surgery" to rectify a hernia and you're out for four days? I'm glad to hear you are going better. It's especially hard to take a shit after they keep you on any kind of narcotic. I was plugged up for two days just because of the oxy-contin they had me on. Yogurt helped for that. I hate store bought laxatives. Fruit cocktail works wonders actually. At least it always did when I ate a lot of C-rats.

Veer_G,

What happened to you? None of this sounds good for any of us.

I had my knee replaced on the 22nd, and all I've heard from everybody is "within a week I jumped out of bed and ran a mile". I don't plan on running and I'm doing quite well rehabbing (reality rehab I think). I'm now walking without a crutch or cane and very slowly making sure I keep my knee all the way back and my toes up when I step and it's doing pretty good. The knee bends well past 90 deg. back, and just over center when I stretch it straight out. A few missteps though and I remember what it's like when your knee goes out sideways and is only holding you with a couple still very sore tendons/ligaments. I haven't fallen, but when the knee gives out in the wrong direction it for sure hurts. It knocks a bunch of confidence down too.

My first knee surgery in 1988, I was atrocious on the anesthetic. i woke up, told the nurse to get these fucking needles out of my arm and I'll be ready to go home. I passed right back out. When I finally did get vertical, I was headed for the door out of the recovery room and very light-headed. I couldn't make it too far and the nurse followed me with the wheel chair, and they pulled me back down into it. The last thing I remember before passing out again, was them saying my blood pressure was 50 over 40.

Well,I don't have strength for much, I'm just hanging out and watching old movies.
I figure another 3 weeks and I should be good.
Tell you one thing,I was taking a shower today and couldn't believe how much weight I lost.
