Daughter #3 graduated from college earlier this month, we are having the party this weekend. She's been using a old hand-me-down 22 Mag revolver for a few years, figured now would be a good time to move her up to an adult size shooter. I did a lot of research, asked a lot of questions, and decided the ported Shield would be the best choice for smaller hands, safest for purse carry. One daughter armed, three to go. I'm hoping all this year, as the finances allow. In my mind, a good handgun in trained hands is just another form of health insurance, the monthly premium cost being more ammo.

Thank you, gentleman, for the kind words. She also brought this home so Daddy could give it a once-over and check the zero. P6120506.JPG A 5 digit Riihimarki .222 I found several years ago hiding in old gun shop. Mounted a Burris 4.5-14x Timberline scope, found a load, and sent it with #3 when she moved back into Dakota Country from the Twin cities. Thrives on 8208 and a good 50 gr. varmint bullet. I cleaned the barrel and put 6 shots into a small inch @ 100. Kinda wish I had it back.....

I know, out of place for the sidearms and knife forum, but it's still a shooter.

    Good dad.

One thing I have learned about pistols is that the fit is very personal. After buying two guns for my wife that didn't get used, I took her to the gun store and spent 2 hours trying different ones before she found one that felt good in her very small hands (a Sig 9mm). A year later, after a good start, that gun is going unused. The 9mm snap in the small gun had gotten to intimidate her. She shot a friend's Glock 380 and absolutely loved it, so I got her that instead. Now I had to go and buy reloading components for 380 because she is burning too much cash on ammo.

I'd recommend taking the other daughters to a range that rents guns or at least a store to try them out themselves before buying, if you haven't already. That would have saved me a LOT of money.
