Well, this is fancy. CC Cooper action and a 2.4ULTACH instal on the stock.

    Fun.

The gap is .125" An eighth of an inch. I do this with an endmill. The saw trick has never worked for me. Just too much risk with a blade wandering. Some might be able to, I cannot. I started to build a cnc wire saw attachment for one of my machines once, just address this very issue. It's just not feasible. Talked with several wire saw companies about how tight a radius the wire can wrap around without breaking. Dead end I'm afraid.

Beautiful job. Larger gap doesn't bother me one bit, looks great and certainly gives you the flexibility of doing tight radiuses. Even with a skinny 3/16" blade it can be tough.

I can't stand the "pucker factor" that comes with bandsaw cutting, but the few that I do are done that way (same as the manuf, Graco does them- steady hands at about 1:13 in their video). Like anything else, when done routinely this type of handwork becomes less stressful, I suppose.

Perhaps, given the volume I assume they do this way is faster from a production standpoint since custom code isn't needed for every stock/comb cutout? Or is the code simple and easy to modify as needed for this type of work?

An Ebony or Rosewood spacer in that gap wouldn't look out of place on a fancy rifle like that one.

What kind of trigger is on that action?
