Hey guys, new to the site, but it pushed me over the edge to buy my first target shooter, Colt CR6724. Put on a Leupold Mark 2 3x9, Magpul PRS, and Harris bipod. I'll be taking it to the range this weekend to dial it in but it will be primarily a varmint gun. Lots of sage rats and ground squirrels in the northwest.
This website already has me looking at a semi 308. I like what I'm seeing out of the GAP-10 but as a Colt fan boy (have a LE6940 also), I'm anxious to see what the Colt SP901 will cost when it comes out later this year. Thanks for looking

Re: Colt CR6724

I'll definitely post some target pics by next week. I got a good deal on it, and for the money/quality, I don't know if there's a better option out there.

Re: Colt CR6724

They are shooters. Definitely one of the most accurate rifle I've ever owned. I'd like to build one like it, but less commercial, and 1/7 twist.

The very last varmit I took with it was a coon. It was quartering away from me on a trot, roughly 200yards out. I was using 60gr vmax loads I had experimented with. From the harris bi-pod I put a round right behind it ear. Stone dead on impact. I also shot a Whitetail with my 6724. Factory 64gr Win powerpoint. I shot it at 75 yard about 6" below it jaw in the neck. That buck didn't take one more step. Dead on impact. It worked for me.

It's a B-square scope mount meant to raise the scope over the front sight and return to zero. Since there is no front sight, the added height is rather redundant but it came with the scope so it'll stay until I can get something lower.

Re: Colt CR6724

Have a CR6724, great varmint rig, currently running a SS 5-20x50 on it. Praire Dogs, Badgers, Sage Rats, etc ... works like a champ. Mine shoots great and I was supprised to find that it likes 77g SMKs. With the 1:9 twist I didn't think it would but it shoots lights out with the HSM 77g Match ammo and they chronoed at 2838 for me. Have run steel with it out to 800 shooting the 77g. One of my favorite rifles to shoot, and the stock trigger isn't bad.
