Not sure if this belongs here or in the gunsmith section.

So I have a Delta Elite from the late 80s. I have thousands of .40s&w from my agency. I know, technically, that a 40s&w can fit in and fire from a 10mm chamber. But I'm kinda concerned with headspace and accuracy.

I'm looking at a storm lake, non ramped, "drop in" barrel in 40s&w.

Have any of you kind folks used one of those barrels? How close to actual drop in are they? If they suck what other options do you recommend. I'm not looking for something too fancy. But I don't own a .40s&w pistol, and my agency is going to 9mm. So I'm going to have a surplus of stuff to send down range.

Thanks.

If you're just looking for a blaster that would work. You'll need to replace the recoil spring with something like a 14 pounder.

If you would like an accurate 40 S&W 1911 take a look at installing a Kart X-act fit barrel.

I would fit up a new barrel chambered in .40SW. I have shot a bit of .40 SW in my Delta Elite using the factory barrel. It works but you are relying on the extractor to hold the case in position. You need to clean the chamber well before switching back to 10mm after shooting .40SW.
