Conflicting information on 75 grain AMAX

I'm in the process of loading up some 75 grain AMAX's for my semi (LWRC m6a3)... I mainly run pmags... I've read many different write ups stating they won't feed from a mag and they will. I believe the mag length is 2.260 (correct me if I'm wrong). I plan on using CFE223 (which is a very "fine"/ball powder compared to varget. Could I slightly reduce the recommended load and seat the bullet approx .01-.02 under mag length to run them out of the mag?

I guess if this approach is out of the question I'll hand load them one by one...

If you load the Amax to mag length, the ogive will be below (inside) the case mouth. Neck tension will be 'variable'.

May work for you, some report success, most say not so good.

That makes sense.... I'll swing on the safe side and load 1 by 1... Does anybody have any load data for these two components? If so please be as detailed as possible.

I also picked up 100 ct of 69 SMK's and would love to hear some work ups on this pill as well.

Side note:

I have shot factory Hornady 75gr. Amax, Match ammo at Camp Perry and it worked very well from the mags in the CMP/RR AR's. My LMT loves the stuff too. So, I don't see why you couldn't make some of your own that would work as well.

Leave the Amax alone & try running the Hornady 75gr BTHP. It'll run @ 2.260 with great accuracy. TAC powder...

+1 on the 75gr HPBT...24.0gr Varget also works well.

I have tried the 75 AMAX in both an AR-15 1/8 twist
Mag length, and a Steyr aug 1/9 twist mag length..

But sadly didn't work for me. They cycled ok with the ogive below the case mouth,
But accuracy was poor in both initial OCW tests that I moved onto 77 bergers instead.

However, I only tried them with Varget.. As that's all I had at the time.

Another bullet to consider is the Berger 70vld, they DO work at mag length, along with the other suggestions above

77gn SMK's will run out of the mag.

Not normally, but I have seen a few that shoot it OK.

My 1/9 20" Steyr aug shoots 77's just fine, both the sierra's and bergers.

I shoot lots of the 75horn bthp. Once you get your seating depth figured out it is a very good bullet.

That's good to hear... I'm ultimately going to be running a TBAC 30-BA on this gun and really want to squeeze every bit of accuracy out of it for midrange purposes (tactical shoots to coyote hunting).
