Hi, I'm new to the forum but have been a guest viewer for some time.
I am in the middle of building a Rem700 setup. I have just had a tactical bolt handle fitted to my Rem SPS Varmint which quite frankly, looks cr*p. I'm not a fan of any of the current handles available. They all seem either too shiny and fancy or poor quality and cheap looking. Considering the angular, tactical look most people want to compliment their rifle, nothing seems available. The cost of current units is also extorsionate!
For this reason (+ being an industrial design engineer) I have decided to design, CNC mill and hard anodize my own unit.
The unit is an oversized tactical bolt handle with a 5/16" 24 thread (standard). It is very slightly curved with a double angle prior to reaching an inverted cut out (to help with weight). It is made from 6160 aluminium and is hard anodized in dark grey/black 10Um thick. This makes it extremely tough and should last a lifetime!
