Gunsmithing Custom cutter

    I imagine there is someone out there that make custom cutter for my lathe so I can rebate the rims on some brass for a project. I know I can do it with a couple different common cutter but it sure would be nice to do it with one setup.

    I could grind one myself, but I would like one a bit more exact than I can grind by hand

    Check with the guys on BR Central. Lots of them have made BR to PPC cutters.
    Jackie Schmidt might even have one since he does a lot of experimenting. Otherwise AlinWa would be your guy.

    I grind my own. Not that difficult. There's only two dimensions that are important. Rim diameter has to match up with extractor groove width. Use a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel to clean up corners.
    It's for brass so you don't really need to use HSS unless you're going to do a lot of cases.

    I think you could do that with one common shape tool (a bit pointy but nothing you couldn't grind by hand) and your compound.

    A form tool might be a bit quicker but not necessary for a small batch.
