cz carbine in 7.62x39

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

A buddy of mine bought one and shot Wolf soft points out of it. It was a fantastic shooter as all of the CZ 527's I've seen.

He completed his project by rebarreling it to 6 PPC.

Now it's even better...

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

i did some looking around the net and found that the only real complaint on these rifles is the scope rings,i went on cz web page and was floored on how much they wanted for a set of rings but the also sell a weaver rail for the same price so i think ill get that, that way i can move the scope around to fit my eye,by the way im putting a burris 3-9x40 bp scope on it

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

worked pretty good for my daughter and her first deer last season. for her i load 125 grn hornadys and rl7. it shoots great just like all of our 527's(223, 2 6PPC's, and a 6.5 grendel)

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

what scope rings do u use on that i heard the cz rings are to high and is uncomfortable to shoot, thats why im looking at that weaver rail, also i have noticed alot of people talking about shooting wolf accuratly out of these rifles, is that with the standard spring or did you guys have to get the heavy spring, and did it cost anything for it

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

The CZ 527s are nice guns. The only problem I have with them is the bolt tends to hit some optics when they are mounted low(like they are suppose to be). I've modded the bolt handles by removing material and re-blueing them which solves the problem.

Without bolt handle modification, it usually requires high rings to allow the bolt handle to clear the scope. It is only a slight grinding mod on the BH to fix the issue for medium rings and make the rifle more comfortable. Or, you can buy an already modified BH from Calhoon. See link below:

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

Mine shoots great. Quick compact rifle with plenty of punch for deer and hogs at shorter range. I mounted a Leupold 1.5x5 in the provided factory rings. It's a little high but out of the way of the bolt. Doesn't bother me at all. I've experienced solid groups using Sierra 125 SPs and RE7 but have also had good luck with factory Silver Bear soft points. Not a target rifle but tons of fun and looks classy.

If you can hold out it's worth the wait. The CZ is a great little rifle function and form... mini-Mauser action, walnut stock, European lines. Conversation starter at the range or in camp.

I'd like to build one in 224AR someday.

Well my gun might have found a cz so couple more questions about it does anyone shoot wolf, brown bear, golden tiger, tula,or silver bear in the rifle how does it shoot, also can u remove the hood on the frontsite without have to cut it off

Re: cz carbine in 7.62x39

yes the hood comes off the front sight without having to cut it off. The rifle is very handy in size and a lot of fun to shoot. Wished they had made this in 6.5 Grendel as I like that round much more than the 7.62x39.

Silver Bear gives me roughly 1 1/2 - 2"s at 100. Hand loads tighten that up
