All,

I have been looking for a replacement stock for the CZ452, and found a post on this forum by a member called TonyC, who posted some images of a CZ452 with the McMillan Magnum Rimfire stock some time ago:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1200451

I'm making up a shortlist of the available stocks for that action, which looks something like:
<ul style="list-style-type: disc">[*]Staffordshire Synthetic Stocks (UK based)[*]McMillan Rimfire Varmint (USA)[*]Various stocks by WildDog (Australia)
[/list]
...but would like to see some more photos of the McMillan stock and how well it fits the CZ action. If anyone knows TonyC, or is able to contact him, or has any photos of the CZ in a McMillan rimfire stock I'd be grateful.

Thanks,
GDSO

Hi GDSO, you can add Manners stocks to that list, I don't remember where I saw it but there is at least 1 452 in a McMillan A5, check out Rimrife BR's BRNO 4 in a Manners tactical, (page 3 "Any CZ Rimfire Fan's Here).
If you find any other CZ stock options keep us posted please.

Not the rimfire Magnum, but I know they can also do Anschutz Silhouette's and the derivatives for CZ's:

The inletting on my stock is as good as any other McM, which is to say, excellent.

email boyd's and tell them you want a cz 452 tacticool stock. I have no idea when they plan to make them, but there is a list...

Re: CZ452 & McMillan Magnum Rimfire Varmint stock

TAG....

have heard mixed reviews on the wilddogs... Shame cause they look like they have a good concept! Am also looking for a stock upgrade for my CZ 452 as well as a replacement triggerguard & an optics rail....

Re: CZ452 & McMillan Magnum Rimfire Varmint stock

Hi Wild Bill, I would be carefull not to take a lot of notice of jokers making "so called reviews", I bought a "wild Dog" varmint stock for my 453, the rifle is not together as yet. The inletting is 1st rate, the stock is EXTREMELY stiff, won't twist or bend in either plane, I have 2 McMillans which I like a lot, and the Wild Dog, whilst a little different, is the equal, quality for quality

Re: CZ452 & McMillan Magnum Rimfire Varmint stock

All,

Thanks for the various replies and suggestions. I am looking for a synthetic stock, and probably should have mentioned that in the first place.

My thoughts are that the McMillan kit is expensive, but supposed to be very well made and worth the money if you're looking for a top end stock. There are plenty of videos out there on YouTube of people driving pickup trucks over them - whether a stock for a CZ452 needs to be built to full tactical specifications I'm not sure - you pay your money and take your choice I expect.

The WildDog stocks are supposed to be very well made (see Robw223 above) but the company has had some issues getting stocks out in good time. There were many posts on varius forums a couple of months ago about customers not being able to place an order, emails bouncing etc. Turns out the workshop had burnt down - form what I hear they have a new workshop up and running, are taking internaltional orders and do get back to people in a decent time.

The third one I'm considering is Staffordshire Synthethic Stocks, admittedly not much use to most people here who seem to be based in the USA, but they do offer a range of stocks which can be inletted to fit the CZ452. They mould the stocks on site and then alter them to fit your spec. Not sure if they do internataional orders, but don't see why not. They have an interesting A5 style stock for the CZ452.

I've added Manners to the list, but not sure if there's a UK importer.

(WildBill - there is a replacement base metal for the CZ452 series available from the SSS link above - see Components page)

Re: CZ452 & McMillan Magnum Rimfire Varmint stock

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. I've had a good look at McMillan, Manners, WildDog, PDC and SSS, and will probably go with either McMillan or SSS. The McMillan stocks are pricey (and vary depending on the £/$ rate) whereas the SSS stocks come out about the same price and can be modified to any spec. I'm considering going with an A5 type stock called the TR1...

I should add I'm nothing to do with SSS, and have chosen them because they're based in the UK - same time zone / currency etc. I'll post some pictures once I have the stock.

Re: CZ452 & McMillan Magnum Rimfire Varmint stock

Mate.

There is a bloke in Ireland that does Carbon stocks and IIRC, if he doesnt do an inlet for a particular action you just send im the rifle and then.... VOILA! out pops a new inletted stock.

IIRC (again) he is EDJ on the Snipers Hide.

I wish you luck mate. I've been trying to find a decent, reasonably priced, stock for my Howa and on our side of the Pond the options are limited. How's the song go? I wish I was in Dixie? ;-)

Re: CZ452 & McMillan Magnum Rimfire Varmint stock

I'm still deciding - you may have seen another thread about the choice of .17HMR base rifles where there's some debate about the relative merits of the CZ452 vs the new Savage TR (which isn't available in the UK as yet). I am almost certainly going to go with the CZ452 in it's Silhouette form and use it as standard for a while (it may be that the stock doesn't need changing, and that I just need to get used to the different shape).

If I do change the stock I am pretty sure it will be the SSS one above (or something like it) with the Aussie WildDog and American McMillan stocks tied for second place. They all have pros and cons, but finding a supplier in the UK was a major bonus - not for patriotic reasons, but logistical ones - he's in the same time zone, same currency, I can drive there and look at the stock as it's being made etc. With the WildDog and McMillan I'd have to make the order, part with the cash and wait and see what turns up.

Whatever happens, I'll post some images on the board once I've done it. Thanks to all who offered an opinion.
