Due to another recent thread, I've started looking at cases again. I'm looking for a rectangular case without MOLLE all over the outside.

After watching some video reviews and looking at websites I've noticed that the 'Discreet' style cases meet my needs and they all look identical across the brand names.
- Galati
- US Peacekeeper
- Blackhawk!
- Tac Force
... all look the same with the same features.

Is it the nature of the design that they are all similar (like rifle stock packs?)? Or are they actually all the same product made in the same Chinese factory and the price differences simply reflect what each company thinks their logo is worth?

Why should I pay more for a Galati than a Tac Force? I'm suspicious.

Don't have any experience with Tac Force, I do have a Galati case and its well made. The padding and insulation are thick and plentiful and it will do a decent job of protecting your gear. I have a 26" model and that's big enough to fit an AR15 with the upper/lower broken down and its small enough that it could pass as a computer bag or business-esque kind of case and I've had comments along those lines taking my AR to work past hordes of people. I imagine Blackhawk's offering is fairly well made as well based on their other products but I don't have any first hand experience with it. I did a write up on it with how I had my AR configured at the time, its since changed but still fits the bag the same way. Maybe some pics that will help you get an idea?

LawnMM, Thank you for the link and review. That does help. It seems the Galati uses YKK zippers, while I do not believe the others do. Considering the grief a Condor bag is giving me, I would pay extra for better zippers!

Triad, I did not know Blackhawk made theirs in Vietnam. Have you used one? Is the quality decent?

I bought a Galati shooting back to haul stuff to IPSC matches back in early 90's. One side of the zipper came undone within a year, I think the shoulder strap gave out after that. Went into the trash after that.

Blackhawk is slightly better quality and durability. I was issued a few of their drop load pouches for SMG and 223 and their drag bag for 5-6 years. Design is exact copy of Eagle products, execution/material were not the same. Pouches had minor fraying, solved with shoegoo. Once again zipper issues on the rifle case.

I have not used the item you are looking at, but the quality/materials from Galati and BH are about the same across the product line. I think BH still offers a "real" warranty.

In the "for what it's worth department", I have and use the Tactical Tailor Covert Single Rifle Case. Mine's a couple of years old, and they have changed the colors since then, going from mono colored to two tone, and made the outside pouch a bit smaller (it was too big), but it is a good solid case, and not ridiculously expensive.

Tactical Tailor makes some good stuff, and it's all actually made in the USA, if that's important to you......Link Covert Carry Case Single Rifle

Thank you! I was not aware of this option. I would prefer to keep my money in NA.
