Roger that on both! I'm sure that we've all heard many times that a handgun is just something you use to fight your way to a rifle. I appreciate that more now.

That being said, I can't carry a rifle all the time and when I'm home, I love just having a handgun with me as a "utility" weapon as well as a defensive weapon.

I don't feel that honest appraisal of the handguns stopping power detracts at all from its usefulness in combat, hunting, or self-defense situations, but it does drive home the Necessity of training until you are capable of killing even with a less-than-ideal weapon.

...and Yes, I love my .357 too. Pretty much the epitome of "utility gun" in my book, anyway.
