That is a bitchen hole in the ground. What is the back story?
it was a guy literally on his first day of work trying to deliver a semi truck load of dynamite, a union guy on strike waited for him With a rifle and shot the trailer blowing up the freeway with a 30 foot deep crater. Ironically, the guys name was John Gault.

Nice answers from some one that has the money to drop on A.I. and Nightforce. Like I said you must have a really special job, one that never fucks anyone. My guess is you’re one of those over paid slugs that thinks they are better then anyone else.
Lolol. I work 70-100 hours a week.

And no I don’t fuck anyone. I do see why a lot of people have no money or assets thought Lack of forethought, work ethic and doing drugs sums up most of it.

Like I said they are not all like that. We can’t strike. Maybe I should quit my union job and work for less then twenty bucks a hour. Loose my house and everything I busted my ass for. Eat crackhead soup and watch my wife die from not being able to get the treatment she needs. Yeah I should do that just so I don’t work for a place that supports the Democrats. Great idea there is a shit ton of jobs for a 45 year old ex grunt with no education. I was one of those special kind of assholes that didn’t serve just for the G.I. Bill.
Don't misunderstand me, I am absolutely NOT denigrating you. Like I said, my experience with the prevailing local union where and when I grew up left a bad, lasting taste in my mouth. You do what you do to look out for your family and yourself, and that is to be commended. Ain't trying to pick a fight, just saying they ain't all the same.

Sure I have plenty of skills. That sounds great I can make more money out right a hour but pay for my insurance out of pocket. And get laid off every winter so less time goes to my pension. Great idea.
So you are saying that you couldn’t do anything without your Union thug bosses?
Interesting. I guess people can be bought.

Maybe when the shelves start drying up of Chinese made products because of the mandatory quarantines over there it will encourage companies to actually manufacture products in the USA....

Yeah I know all about working long hours I’ve done many 130 plus hour weeks. Yup house is almost paid off only been seven years. I agree drugs are bad. I don’t buy anything unless I have cash. And still call bullshit when I see it. You are still beating around the bush. But hey I’m just a piece of shit union slug that keeps your power on in your house and at your place of business.

Union thug bosses? Who the fuck are you talking too? I don’t have union bosses. The company I work for that is 90% non union is my boss along with the power company. I don’t see anyone from my union like I said you have not a clue what you’re talking about. And just so you understand every power company in my state hires union. Know why ? They have tried non union and they get fucked every time. So you assholes keep blaming the unions for your high bills. The company I work for is most likely in your state since they are in 34 of them last I knew. And I almost guarantee they make less then I do.

I blame unions for being unions. I made it in the world just fine by myself. Big bad ass SUV and boat and all.

The Most Dangerous City in the USA
I have mixed emotions about trade unions. AFGE and NFFE, however, should be immediately outlawed, their leadership imprisoned, and the politicians who take their money banned from ever serving against the American people for as long as they live.

Free association is 100% American. That’s not whats happening. What’s happening is political payola and corruption (legal corruption).

Every corporation bashing, anti-business, Marxist, shitbag who support government unions is a hypocrite of the highest order. Saying collective bargaining is a good thing, and then supporting criminals who sit on both sides of the bargaining table, union on one side and bought and paid for Democrat on the other, utterly destroys the whole argument. I will always support any union busting, and never have any respect for the union as long as they support these utterly illegal public unions.

You simply can’t expect regular Americans to support unions in general when these criminal cabals of leftist funding themselves by voting for ever higher salaries and higher union dues exist and are supported by the regular unions.

Even the socialist in chief was completely against this utter betrayal of the tax payers and utter betrayal of common sense and the basic idea of unions in the first place.

Theis,

Clearly you haven't heard the conventional wisdom - we can't manufacture products in the US anymore!

;)

I formed the opinion long ago that if I cannot afford to pay a fellow human a fair wage to produce a product, then I probably don't need that product anyways.

I have worked union, non union and am now self employed. This gives me a unique perspective on the subject of unions.

Working mans view:
As an average working man union is better. Hands down better. No brainer better. Set aside all the politics and criticisms, you get more.

Trade Unions work at the mercy of their talent and productivity. If you don't produce, you sit on the bench, so to speak.

Service and Manu unions work at the mercy of their hire date. It all about seniority, not skill or productivity.

Business mans view:
I work in a skilled trade, the employee pickings are thin. I have explored going union just for the talent quality and availability alone. But for a residential light commercial company it is just not economically feasible. I would not be able to compete in my market.

Laziness, non dependability exist in the non union sector too. This is a fact. The result of this environment is the cream rising fast to the top. It's easy to stand out when you work and they don't.

In closing I will say in non union a few will excel and do very well, the rest not so much. In union a few will still excel and do well, and the rest will do well also. JMHO

Funny how the Dems support the unions and at the same time they open the borders to destroy them with cheap labor.

That’s definitely not Ibew. My job non union is 14 bucks a hour for a foreman, I will take my 30 plus benefits. As for losers I don’t think so. Like I said a bunch of unions are bullshit but not all.
I'm not sure where you live but show me where I can hire electricians for 14 bucks an hour. You might make 30 bucks an hour but how much are your dues?

Never said I was a electrician. Clearly said line clearance. I run heavy equipment and also do tree work for power lines. And as for my dues, not bad at all. 0159FEEC-CD91-4793-AE26-9C4B386CBD72.jpeg

Don’t need the coron virus if they would get rid of regulation , unions, epa and welfare/disability .

Boy fellas I asked DeerSniper one question why unions are so bad. Simple question. I have worked in many states both during storms and not. I can tell you for a fact that the states that my particular industry is non union are getting fucked. Early in this post I was getting hammered about the union not allowing the company to hire non union, he must not have not understood 90% of all the companies in my industry are non union. These are not fly by night companies I’m talking about and each individual one is in more non union states. Good for instance. When I was going through my divorce I start thinking about moving to Florida. I call my boss who gives me the number to the division manager in Florida. Give him a call tells me how great it is. You have to live in this area because that’s where the work is this year. Asks if I have family and tells me about this great insurance that they have only 150$ a week or month can’t remember. Then he tells me that I can start at anytime as a foreman. Hell yeah I’m thinking, ride the Harley to work every day. So I tell him it sounds great , I will start preparing for the move oh by the way what’s the pay. Oh you will be making 13 bucks a hour he says. Granted this is around 18 years ago, but it was nearly half of what I was making and on top of that paying for the insurance. Oh and storm work” the most dangerous kind” straight pay until you have your 40. Just to let you know if I get called on storm it’s time and a half from the call. Work days on storm range from 18 to 24 hours and that can go from a few days to months. This is why I personally don’t think my union local is completely bad. All the crap I was getting last night goes for any big company unless you are self employed. That’s all I have to say about this and will be my last post on this topic.

Hi,

Can anyone name a Union and Union Leader that has publicly endorsed a Republican; much less a true Conservative?

It is pretty funny that "We" as the general Constitutional loving firearm crowd will call for boycotting of a product and company if they say anything against supporting the 2A but yet at the same time pay Union dues to an organization that will publicly give YOUR money to an Anti 2A politician....

Maybe it is time to start boycotting employers we get paychecks from in same light as the calls to boycott products we purchase......

Lol. Take it all way. Take away all the
Subsidies
SNAP programs (yeah welfare is counted as farm spending. Take it all away)
Crop insurance
regulations,
mandatory trainings,
Dumping raw sewage in tributaries then blaming farm fertilizer for all the problems
.gov commodity market manipulation, Teachings /encouraging South American et al countries crop production
Corrupt judges ruling for Monsanto increasing seed costs
Feeding the kings animals that you aren’t allowed to shoot
Uncompensated takings of crop land and forest
Etc
etc.

Farmers vote 99 percent conservative.
They don’t want those subsidies or any of that other bs.

But if you the voter wants to vote to steal crop land, provide uncompensated food and habitat for game animals, not let you log your land, use the USDA and other .gov agencies to manipulate crop prices. Etc. They can pay for it.

Well, Trump has been to our training centers several times.
I laughed because the ball washers at the training center quit in protest the first time around.
Within a month they were secretly begging for their jobs back because they actually had to do some work out in the field.

Cleveland supported him last time and this time.
Oh the drama, I'm so glad I'm retired.
I never once bashed anyone for being non-union while on this forum.

However for you young one's, the labor force of this country was forged in blood.
Why not do some reading about labor history.
Learn about something before you bash it because your neighbor said so.
It's a good practice to get into,it will serve you well throughout life.

It suits one well to know what you are talking about, it keeps you from looking like a real asshole to folks that know better.
Every, and I mean every workers rights were given to this country from people that fought to better themselves.
Shit, OSHA wasn't even a thought until the 70's,think about that.
As for all the standards and law such as ANSI, OSHA were written because someone has been killed or seriously injured.
Deersniper, you reminded me of a guy that bitches because he doesn't understand WHY HE CAN'T DRAIN HIS OIL AT WALMART in the parking lot over the storm drain.
That picture with the crater of the HWY, do some research on that.

We need to set standards for the class warfare if we want to do it properly.

Mass roads cost 5x what NH roads cost per mile. Mass roads are in far worse shape with piss poor work. A small part of that is the requirement to have leo's for details. I know about 10 years ago it was 120.00 an hour when a prevailing wage set of tits would have gotten 55.00.
To expand on that some I thought I needed to rebalance my tires recently. I drove to mom's house in NH and the vibration went away. I still went to the tire dealer and he said what I thought after checking all 4 tires. The roads are just terrible causing the issues I have.
I'm one of the bonded shareholders that got screwed by the GM bankruptcy. I should be retired right now. Instead, I went through a 4way reverse split losing over 100k shares of stock at a high of 67.19.
NYC has convicted pedophiles that cannot be fired by the schools because of tenure. They are paid their wages and cannot be within x distance of minor children thanks to the teachers union. My wife's uncle was proud as hell when his school district went on strike illegally because they were under contract to change their current contract. While he was strutting around at a family event I asked him so while you were illegally on strike did you worry about being arrested? You signed a contract and then refused to fulfill it. It's not an issue here with the police unions obviously they won't arrest them that's for sure.
To the union tree climber/cutter as a private company cutting for Scott paper and IP in the late '80s to 93 we didn't get an hourly wage but it would have been about 150.00 an hour then. Skidder and trucker wages again private were about 190% of what the union was paying at the time. When your unlimited on the top end and compensation is solely production-based you can make whatever the market will bear. The better you are the higher and more in demand you will be.
In my case, I work hard in the summer to cruise in the winter. Because I got bigger than expected tax bill I have to step it up right now. I took 2 jobs I would pass on due to shitty conditions/weather. But in less than 30 days I will clear the tax bill and about 3x so when I start my season next month.

Unions are like the EPA. Needed at one time but now way out of control.
The tax payer or consumer gets extorted to pay all the inflated “good wages”
Interestingly enough Mark Twain wrote a good argument to those that felt "controlled, guaranteed and regulated work" was the best way to make sure everybody got more money.

He (correctly) wrote that it really doesn't matter how much money you make, what actually matters is how much you can buy with your money.

When unions / guilds / governments get involved in restricting the job market to make sure the "workers get paid more" it usually winds up actually making them a bit more poor because the overall effect is to increase the cost of living for everyone. Unions/Guilds demand more money, companies have to raise prices to cover the difference, usually resulting in the actual standard of living going down slightly.

Here's a quote from 80% down the article:

"OF COURSE, IT’S possible that the coronavirus never turns into the epidemic that public health officials fear.

It’s possible that the Trump administration, despite its early struggles, gets a handle on the outbreak. That local officials, who are the backbone of America’s public health system, wrestle it to the ground. That the mortality rate is not as high as early estimates suggest.

That would be great news. It would mean thousands of lives spared and trillions of dollars of wealth preserved.

But it would also mean another talking point for the Trumpian echo chamber: The president, they’ll say, was right all along. The Democrats were just scoring points. And the media was overhyping the coronavirus, they’ll claim, just as it overhyped Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign and the Ukrainian affair."

I think there was a thread going on that said "what's next after impeachment?"

Breathless, 24 hour, nonstop reporting of an "outbreak" that in the same amount of time it has been present in the afflicted countries still doesn't hold a candle to this year's flu going around.

Jesus you're whiney.

I've witnessed IBEW. I did twice the work in half the time. I showed up with a trailer full of electric and hydraulic tools to get shit done. They were using 50 year old manual tools, and when I asked them the exact answer I got was "we're paid by the hour".

I make more than IBEW wages as a non-union electrician. I'm over $30/hr, and union wages here are a $45/hr package that gives you a real $26 take home.
I have better benefits than the union.

I once worked for a company that set aside $100k every year to fight frivolous lawsuits brought against him by the locals for not hiring their members. Not because they wanted to work there, but because he was their biggest competitor and was doing $3-5 million dollar jobs they wanted. We were doing them 25% cheaper and making better wages and benefits than IBEW.

#1 reason I won't go union is they are in full lockstep with the Democrats and I'll be dead before I willingly give away money that'll be donated to their cause.

I can tell you UNION members... doesn't matter what trade are highly skilled in their field. We are drug tested all the time and all our safety certs have to be kept up. We usually have a safer work site record vs Non Union! Part of our union dues help fund our training facilities. In NY our training facility is used by the State for Union and non union crane testing. Non union can NOT train in our facility tho.

I think the general feeling is that nobody likes extortion...

Why the Union hate?
It could be something about from the very start, unions were aligned with mobsters and used mobster like tactics of intimidation, violence and harassment to get what they wanted.

It could be something about the unions being the biggest and loudest supporters of the Democrat Communist party

It could be something about the image of union thugs threatening other workers and business owners alike

It could be something about the countless acts of violence unions have done

It could be something about them driving up prices for everyone by demanding more than their share

It could be something about them driving business out of business and pretty much being at least partially responsible for jobs being sent overseas.

It could be something about the public sector unions driving states into near bankruptcy as they collude with corrupt government officials to get more and more for them on the backs of the taxpayers and demanding men with guns threaten to take people's houses away unless they pay ever more extortion.

It could be their attitudes and the way they look down on others.

I don't know, take your pick, pick them all, make up some new ones of your own?

Hi,

Maybe when the shelves start drying up of Chinese made products because of the mandatory quarantines over there it will encourage companies to actually manufacture products in the USA....

Win/Win in my book. so maybe the C-Virus was part of 4 dimensional chess....

Sincerely,
Theis

Ironic isn't it?

Trade talks with WinnieThePoo break down in late August, COVID19 breaks out in early October.....Iran says FU during the fall of 2019.....

The biggest winners in COVID19 lottery? Just bad luck on their part? Sure...sure it is, b/c they both eat bats at the fish market.

I wish they would make up my mind. I thought the Kenyan was the anti Christ and Trump is Hitler.
If Trump single handedly found a cure or solution to EVERY single world issue, problem or virus.... he would still be considered the worst human being to ever live to some. Also it's raining and cold outside and I'm not wearing a coat.... that's Trumps fault

Times have changed. Now in NYC the mobs control all the NON UNION companies i was told. Which the Non Union is holding more than 70% of the job market downstate.

Most union members i work w are ALL Trump supporters.

Our Prevailing Wage is set by the state w the help of our Unions so Union or Non Union on a state funded project pay the same. Difference is Non Union gets the full wage w benefit package in their pocket.

When i do work w non union employees its a shit show. No PPE, doubtful if they have a OSHA 30 card and most don't even speak english.
WE just had a 19 year old kid get killed locally a few weeks ago on a non Union job site.

Over the last 24 years as a Concrete Pump Operator i have worked on both sides. Wages are higher on the Union side but we are held to much higher standards. No safety certs=NO WORK. Fail a drug test your canned. Unions have changed! Your a slug go home don't come back. Im not saying non union employees aren't good employees or workers. Also i don't personally know anyone that looks down on Non Union employees.

Interesting how this thread got turned around from Coronavirus advice to unions...
My only experience with unions is when one was tried to start up in a casino in Reno, back in the 60's. Bums (that's what they called the homeless back then) were hired to picket, though they had never worked there. Due to lack of business of few crossing the line, I lost my job. Shortly thereafter the union failed in N. Nevada. So there is my bit about unions...
Now then, originally, just wanted to say that the first case of Coronavirus was found in Washington, D.C. and I was just wondering how long it is going to take donald to retreat to Mar-a Lago?

UPDATE: I went to my news site and found that donald is ALREADY THERE, golfing! I guess that is his new war room against Coronavirus!
