I keep less than a pound of powder in nalgene bottles made for my powder thrower. I noticed today that the three bottles of double base turned yellow. So I assume the plastic is absorbing something from the powder. Maybe nitroglycerin. Maybe the powder is now "changed"? Weaker? The bottles are now explosive? Any insights? I have changed containers back to the "black" plastic. Thanks, Art

Hessian,

No, it's the residual or volatile solvents left in the powders that are causing the reaction. It's not specific to double based powders, either. Single based powders will do the same thing. Best solution here is to always return the powders to their original containers, and reseal them tightly between reloading sessions. Don't sweat the discoloration, though. Use the measures enough, and you'll see this. It's no big deal and not something to worry about.
