Dupleks shotgun slugs?

Sorry if this has been beaten up, searches only show "duplex" reticles...

Basicly they are steel shotgun slugs designed for either extreme penetration or super expansion. The PDF file at the bottom of the link shows a conventionl lead slug defeating two sheets of steel and their slugs doing 9 sheets and 16 sheets for two different types. They also offer an expanding slug that reminds me of the original black talons except it is opening almost two inches. Prices online were not horrible if it performs as advertised. Mall ninja stuff or a genuine improvement over conventional lead foster slugs?

They didn't do a good job covering up a bit of deception there. They used "low recoil" loads for the lead slug, so they are only somewhere in the 1,000fps range, and they compared that to the much higher velocity loadings of their own ammo.

Sounds like they aren't very confident in their own product.

They work very well as hunting slugs. I wouldn't replace my Breeneke slugs for anti personel use in a hurry though until we see more field data from hunters. The few I have personally tried have made a serious mess of hogs (type Rosa expanding slugs rather than the blue non expanding ones)

Without independent testing claims are just claims.
If some are supplied to DocGKR we would find out what is and is not true

Sorry I dont know who that is, but Im willing to pony up and buy some and drop them on the mail. I think the slugs look pretty interesting and they are cheaper that some of the premium saboted stuff. Im also interested in the fact they claim they do not need a rifled barrel for suitable accuracy.

I think I need to add a little clarity to my post, I don't doubt the product, i'm sure it's fantastic stuff, and worthy of their claims, but their testing was at fault as they didn't compare comparable products. Testing a low recoil load against a high power load and then championing your products superiority is just silly.

If I were a slug hunter, I would use them for sure, the concept is sound, and some of the other testing videos i've seen are impressive. I've long thought that if I needed a big game gun, but couldn't afford the big name cartridges, all i'd need is a 12 gauge and a slug barrel. I don't think there's an animal on the planet that wouldn't go down with a .730" 870gr Dixie Slug at 1200fps in it.

He's the go to guy for valid testing, easy enough to find him on one of the links above

Matter of fact ANY maker who wants valid testing done by some one very well respected would supply ammunition to him to get it done.

Thanks for all the insight guys, confirming they are legal in California for the lead free zone makes it a sell already. I will grab some of the solid versions and see how they fly in my rig.
