Re: early christmas present
uhh, first NcStar is total shit, and they are blatant copyright violators... even after losing court cases, they continue to do it. DO NOT give them any more money.
second, that looks like a detachable carry handle... take it off and mount a real scope, or use the irons that are on it.
third, are any of the parts actually real or are they all chinese copies... like the PRS stock, the bipod, etc.
fourth, who made your rail? i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess its a chinese UTG rail...
I don't mean to bash, I appreciate that you are anxious to jump into to black rifle world. But remember, AR's are a real weapon system to be used with caution like any other firearm. Adding airsoft quality items is never an acceptable alternative to gearing up for whatever you intend to use it for. Failures of cheap gear can create a dangerous situation, or just generally be a pain in the ass... either one could spoil your range day at the drop of a hat.
I like your enthusiasm for the AR, but my advice it to lurk around and see what the serious members here use on their weapons. Use the google snipers hide search (it works better than built in) and soak up the info like a sponge.
You don't have to be made of money to have a nice platform. You just have to be very picky, and patient enough to save up for it or wait for a sale or a good deal on a used unit here on the board. Don't waste money on cheap shit, save it for better gear.
So you know, here is how mine is built:
*Kit upper m4 from m&a parts
*Troy MRF rail with ergo covers
*Magpul rear BUIS, AR original A-frame front sight.
*a2 stock for storage of cleaning kit & spare parts, also an eagle stock pack (IBA style with loops inside) for ammo, dope charts, etc.
*Magpul MOE grip with the MIAD core that hold the spare bolt & firing pin
*vickers blue force 2-point sling. I used a footman loop on the a2 stock to attach the rear point, but I may go to a QD adapter on the buffer tube.
*i've been using a horus scope, but I'm going to dump it and go to a vortex red dot (cheap & quality aimpoint style optic) and a cheapo magnifier
I consider it an affordable build, it's not got thousands of dollars of crap on it. I'd love to go with a slick stock and expensive optics, but I'd rather spend that money on mags and ammo so I can plink all the time.
