Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show is postponed!

The organizer of a large outdoors show in Harrisburg is postponing it indefinitely after its ban on assault weapons triggered a backlash and boycott.

Reed Exhibitions posted a notice Thursday on the website of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, saying there is an "emotionally charged atmosphere" that would make it impossible to hold an event "designed to provide family enjoyment."

The nine-day show in the Farm Show Complex had been scheduled to start Feb. 2. Many of the vendors had announced they were pulling out.

An email sent to ticket-buyers promises refunds and says the process will be posted on its website.

The organizers banned the sale and display of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Reed says the show is postponed "for now," but isn't elaborating.

Geez even now they can't admit why the show is canceled.

Everybody knows their position caused the backlash. Fuck-em and any of their future shows.

I read on the NRA website I believe that over 200 vendors cancelled their attendance because of the anti sporting rifle nonsense. I think it was 1/5 of their vendors that pulled out so financially they are taking a hit because of their anti 2A stance.

show sucked anyway..nobody wants ot buy a camper or overpriced trip to Canada...I say screw em'.

It was over 300 vendors that had pulled out of the show and surrendered their fees by doing so. The booth fees were up to $10000 each. All of these folks put a big chunk of money on the line to support 2A. Now that the show has been cancelled, they should be able to recoup that but I'll still do my damnedest to support them in the future for taking the stand.

Now it's time to ask yourself, "What can I do to support 2A as well?"

I don't care if you just write on the Ruger website, or take a more proactive approach. If you own a gun and want to keep it that way, do something. You've got the time to read this, that means you've got the time to do something positive in this fight.

Imagine that... They don't have the sack to call it what it was. Vendors standing up for our constitutional rights as Americans instead of selling out for money.

Keep an eye out for whatever they change their name to in the future while going after other venues like this. I hope SHOT drops them as the show organizer after this mess also.

There should be a list of the Vendors who put their money where our stance is...and we should do our damnedest to support them in the future...

That would be the S.H.O.T. among others. My guess is that SHOT 2014 will be just as full as it was this year. I will also predict that many members of this board will be there, and even posting about it, Xshot you are 100% right on, however; far to many gun owners just don't have the balls to 'just say no' to Reed. Hope I'm wrong, we'll see.

RFTinkerer, great post! I hope the NSSF has the balls, it looks like they do thus far. The SHOT Show is one of the largest shows of its type in the US and brings alot of $$$ to the town in which it is held. I have always thought the SHOT and the NRA annual shows should reward gun friendly states, and stay away from those that are not. Our money will speak very loudly if we let it. The SHOT in Vegas, the home of harry reid, makes one wonder what NSSF is thinking. But, thanks for the good news.

I know Cabelas was one of the first to drop sponsorship to the show..
