i know this may not be the correct forum to ask this question in, but i am kind of desperate. i once saw an engraved shotgun that had squirrels in a tree on one side and a beagle chasing a rabbit on the other side. i need to know either who did the engraving or where i can find a picture of both sides. i have a model 42 winchester being restored as we speak and i want the guy to do this pattern of engraving for me, but he needs a reference. thank you in advance. steve

Re: ENGRAVING PATTERN

I have seen the type of scenes you describe. I have seen a book of things like that for engravers. But I can't remember if it was at Brownell's or where.

Good luck in your search.

Re: ENGRAVING PATTERN

I have seen this design before , i Believe it was either on a ruger red label over under or a parker. Look at engraved ruger red label or parkers ... but check the red label first .... i pretty sure it was a ruger , it had gold inletting as well.

Re: ENGRAVING PATTERN

I found this online and it sounds quite similar to the description that you are looking for on this model rifle.

516. * REMINGTON MODEL 241E DELUXE ENGRAVED SEMI-AUTO RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. Spectacular little rifle, with 24" tapered round barrel, standard open sights, factory engraved receiver, with vignettes of a running rabbit on the left side and a squirrel in a tree on the right side. Both surrounded by Arabesque patterns. The top and bottom of the receiver and trigger bow are also engraved with Arabesque patterns. Engraved around the right side vignette is "Model 241E" and the serial number. The stock and forearm are highly figured walnut, checkered with a capped pistol grip and a wonderful smooth high polish finish. The buttstock has a Remington embossed checkered metal buttplate. Ser. 23164. CONDITION: Excellent plus, near new, appears to be unfired, retaining virtually all its original blue to the metal and stock finish with only minor tiny handling and storage mars to the finish. 4-43116 JL331 (2,500-3,500)

Re: ENGRAVING PATTERN

OK after looking on Google, I think I have found some of what you are looking for. These pictures are actual engravings from different Belgain Browning 22 Auto Rifle Grade II pictures I found online. I think I found some that show the fine detail of the engravings. I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but the husband thinks this pretty darn close. Let me know if you need more, I sure I can find them.
