So a little over a month ago I shipped my brand new Sandman Ti back to Dead Air because it didn't align on any of my rifles. Before I had an alignment rod, I just looked down the bore and fired a couple shots. I was hesitant because I could see it wobble going on and on a rifle where the can is recessed there is a larger gap at the bottom between can and handgaurd. After the two shots there was a very slight streak of copper on the end cap. When I got my alignment rod, it to would graze the end cap.

Was finally able to pick it up from FedEx (was on vacation hold) and stuck it back on the rifle where it would be in the hand guard. Still not centered, but better. Not sure if it is because of the E Brake or not. I sent an email back to Rodney, haven't heard from him yet. Probably tired of hearing from me. Needless to say I'm not happy.

Is this acceptable, or should it be dead center. This is two different barrels.

    Visible gap...

Looks like the misalignment is different on each gun, which would suggest to me it isn’t the can.

More like the mounts and or threads for each rifle are different. Possible the rod as well is contributing to the look.

Geeen line is a consistent mark between the cans in each picture. Red is the direction of misalignment.

Is the gap in the rear cap on the same index as the misalignment?

    Good eye.
You can turn the rod 180 with no change, I checked that.
I looked and checked for gap correlation and I thought there was. I'll check again when I get off work tonight.

Barrels are an early Sig 716 in .308 rumored to be Green Mountian from my understanding. The other is a carbon Proof Research in 300 BLK.

The following pictures are from the Proof barrel where the can is recessed in the hand guard.

Bigger gap near top. (New pic, not reused.)

    And no gap at top.

So as you can see, it's the Sandman Ti which is direct thread. Not the proof barrel. Didn't hear back from Rodney (Customer Service Manager) which I'm not happy about. Maybe call Friday if I hear nothing Thursday.

Wish Dead Air was on here like TBAC...
Anybody have connections at Dead Air?
