I noticed this on ebay, and wondered what you guys thought. I don't plan on buying a scope soon because a fine gentleman on here is sending me a mil/mil scope for free but I am interested in the LRS-1 in the future. I asked if it was a millet scope, and the response was.... "It is not millett brand.

We purchased it from the same manufacturer in China where bushnell buys and rebrand it as millett. It is the same scope other than the brand. "

I guess my big worry is warranty, which I believe Bushnell has a great one

Re: Fake or Real

I suppose that what he said about it coming from a Chinese OEM could be true. The listing says that you have a 30 day money back guarantee. However you can buy the "real deal" from Midway for only a few dollars more so why take the risk?

And you can use one of the Midway codes found here for additional savings.

If your scope purchase is a little way out, you might consider another brand of scope. Do some in depth research and try to filter out fan-boy comments and you will find there are nice offerings for a few more hundred than you are currently budgeting for. Magnification comes at a cost, your current budget will get you a nice x10 scope, but for $700 you can get a x15 that will look clear, have a generous eye box, and have less eye strain.

As for warantees, they are nice, but I learned the hard way. Purchasing a cheap scope and then sending it out for repair and waiting for it to come back is frustrating at best. Then to get back out in the field and have it break again, forget it.

Find a scope that will perform, one that has been put through its paces, and has documented good customer support.

As for eBay optics, anything coming out of China, I would avoid. There are some good vendors on the bay (Optics Planet, Cameraland), and companies like SWFA have demo models for sale at great savings. http://www.samplelist.com/ViewProducts.aspx

Re: Fake or Real

Interesting that they use the same product Sku as the Millett LRS, BK81006, and they say its not a Millett brand. I would agree with Roggom though. Millett makes a nice scope and keeps cost down, so if you're under a budget its not a bad way to go. If you can however, save up a littl emore and look at the Nikon Monarchs, Bushell Elites, or some of the Vortex line. A few hundred more, but you get a lot with them. Give me a call if you ever have questions as well. 800-504-5897 x234.

Re: Fake or Real

damn ebay with the knockoff's! This makes so many people reticent to buy from that site...I have a good friend who sells many of his productes on ebay, but the fear of knockoffs is killing it for legitimate businesses.
