Female rapper running for mayor arrested after staging kidnapping

Sabrina Belcher, 29, was arrested and charged with conspiracy and filing a false police report after Sumter police say the footage she broadcasted live on Facebook of her being kidnapped was fake.

A Democrat candidate for mayor in South Carolina was one of two people arrested for faking a kidnapping and beating in hopes to get some sympathy votes in November. Instead, the 29-year-old Sabrina Belcher just got charged with filing a false police report of a felony and conspiracy.

Belcher is a volunteer firefighter with the Sumter County Fire Department, and she is a certified first responder who currently works in private home health care.

After graduating from Sumter High School, Belcher completed various trade school and college courses. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor's degree in business administration and also has an associate degree in paralegal studies.
