I checked the speed of Federal GMM 69 yesterday from my 23" 9 twist Remington 700 and got 2800fps at about 16' from the muzzle.
I am new at this and think the 28 is slow.
This load shoots .6" @ 100yds over and over bipod and bean bag. I want to duplicate this and mabie tweak it forward a bit.
I will probably have to see if on another outing the speed repeats.

Yes, that is slow. But it is loaded to 223Rem pressures, not 5.56mm NATO pressures, so you need to keep that in mind when looking at other's numbers.

My match load is 70gr Berger VLD in Win case over 25.3gr RL15. That does 2925 from my 20" 8twist Noveske AR-15. Note this is loaded to 5.56mm NATO pressures. Your chamber may or may not be safe at 5.56mm.

Hi Guys

I shoot a Steyr Varminter; 23 5/8" barrel, 1-9 twist.

My best consistant loads for 69 gr Sierras and Lapua Scenars is: 23.5 gr Hodgons H335. Using Remington brass and Lapua brass With Winchester Primers. I get 2890 feet per second.

Experimenting with different primers gives different results. CCI Bench primers give 100 FPS more for same powder charge but not as consistant.Federal primers are about 50 FPS slower.

If you reload, try increasing Overall length of bullet to seat the bullet closer to lands. This increases pressure and the result is increase in velocity. BUT work up your powder charge so you don't spike your pressure to dangerous levels.

Cheers
