My buddy turned a 300Win mag Sendero into a 300Short mag. He throated it long to shoot 208 A-maxs. Anyway to get it to feed without going to a DBM unit. Feeds the 1 st round fine. Rest jump out over the rails and pop out of the box. Hoping for an easy fix

Re: Feeding issues

I can tell you what to do but proceed at your own risk. This comes from years of experience dealing with large diameter cases in 700's. The geometery of the magazine in conjunction with the feed rails do not allow for the cartridges to lay closer to the horizonal plane. They are more vertical and will not stay under the rails which are not machined for that cartridge to start with. The way they are machined they hold and guide the cartridge towards the center, not tucked under the rail, and then you're launching cases out of the action. With the action turned with mag well pointing up look at the rails. Starting at the front the rails have to ground thinner, almost to a knife edge, and the angle laid back. Also tapered from front to rear helps keep the case head under the rail as the bolt is closed and the case enters the area in the receiver ring.
Wish I could be more helful but it's as much by feel and look as anything.

Re: Feeding issues

I would try cutting windows in the mag box before i started adjusting the receiver. Find a picture of an ultra mag or rsaum mag box and put some windows in your mag box like that. Need to give the wider cases rom to stack.
