I own a few AR's and some bolt rifles, but something has always intrigued me about the M1A. I've always wanted to own one, and think I might finally pick one up. The one I am looking at in particular is the M1A scout in walnut. I like the idea of the 18" barrel for "handiness".

Anyway, my question for y'all is, what kind of accuracy can I expect out of the scout out to a max of 600 yards with match ammo?

I'm not expecting sub-moa or anything like that. Thought I would ask those that have real world experience with it though.

Thanks in advance for information regarding this rifle.

I like the M1A rifles a lot and have several. You will find the longer barrel is better suited for longer ranges than the 18". I prefer the longer barrels for most purposes but we all have personal preferences. I can't answer your question about the 600 yard accuracy.

Buy one and never look back. They are a wonderful rifle!

You will be able to hit a silhouette target at that distance if that's what you're asking.

If you are trying for grouping then I would go with a different configuration other than the scout.
It's a nice rifle and if just plinking is your goal.

You can't go wrong with it.
