FFL Transforor will not let me have my rifle!!!

Re: FFL Transforor will not let me have my rifle!!!

I know in my town (Las Vegas)a gunshop (Accuracy Gun Shop)tried charging me sales tax and a large fee for a rifle I wanted transfered,I told him he cannot charge me sales tax for a rifle I bought and paid for on my own.Theses dealers are not stupid they simply try to stick it to you.Told him to take a hike.

Be glad you live where you do. I have to pay a "sales" tax on used firearms that are transferred threw a FFL in WA.

They call it a use tax, but it just happens to be the same rate as the sales tax here.

Call it whatever you want it still stinks like shit.

What sucks is they could call it a "bullshit tax" and you would still have to pay it. But what do you do?

Yep pretty much go us by the balls, except those that live close enough to the oregon boarder to buy their stuff tax free.

He was nice about the whole thing and I give him a little extra green for his troubles but honestly who has ever heard of the ATF letting an illegal transaction "slide"?

With all of your guys help when I went in there today I was confident that I was going to leave with my firearm. So a big thanks to you all. </div></div>
No goverment revenue collector will let anything slide, if he had "actually" talked to them if they did say we will let it slide, chances are the next morning the whole local field office would be waiting for him to open up.

I agree 100% no way in the world someone would actuallY tell this guy this from the ATF. And I cant believe he thought somebody would actually believe this BS.

Re: FFL Transforor will not let me have my rifle!!!

How long did the FFL have this in his shop before he let you have it?

He has to log this into his bound book within 24hrs of recieving the firearm. So if he waited to get the info from the other person, he broke the law. Not you.

I would go back to him and ask for your $ back. If he does not give it to you, inform him you are going to call the BATF an tell them of violations to his bound book.

He only had the rifle 24hrs I think. The day he recieved it I went into his shop and that was when he told me that everything was wrong. So I came home started this post and very quickly started recieving replies it was then that I realized he was in the wrong and the next day when I went in with this info I had found he started shoving the transfer papers in my face as soon as I walked through the door. So he knew he was wrong in what he had told me the day before.

Re: FFL Transforor will not let me have my rifle!!!

I found a local pawn shop with an ffl for my transfers for this very reason. The guy at the pawn shop only cares about geting his $20 and isn't going to make up some bullshit. Funny thing is this pawn shop is just down the street from a gunshop that won't transfer anything they sell and wants $40 a transfer. You'd think dealers would realize that they are more likely to gain a customer by making transfers less of a pita.
