What does "direct connect" mean on the 338? Does that mean it isn't threaded?

Direct connect means the barrel must be threaded to the same thread as the can and the can screws directly onto the barrel. A non-direct connect can for SAS uses the T.O.M.B. mount which threads to the barrel and functions as a break or flash suppressor when the can is not installed.
