Five Tribes

Interesting article from a large, public survey on RCP.

I'm a little disconcerted at how large the unaffiliated are in for gun control. We have a lot of work to do on that...

The last paragraph says it all....

"They (Independent Blues) agree with the Democratic Party on policy issues such as health care, education, and gun control, but are turned off by political correctness and identity politics. They honor the flag and respect religion. “Caught in the cross-fire of our culture wars that are tearing our country apart, they tend to be ignored,” said Della Volpe. “Yet they might very well choose our next president.”

I totally agree with the statement

Better said would be that there's a lot of centrists in America that feel ignored. Most Americans are centrists, not far left or far right, but the way things have been going, they've been forced to vote on one issue important to them and disregard the rest. It's frustrating for sure. I have to vote 2A, I have no choice really. There isn't anyone that represents their district or state, so in essence, they all suck.

It won't last forever. We may not live to see the end of it, and likely it'll be violent. The further entrenched in power and money politicians get, the harder it is for them to give it up. Something is wrong when our system attracts billionaires to "serve". Something has to change if we're to actually live up to all those ideals we were all taught though. What and how, I'm not sure. A peaceful way would be nice, but it seems that getting anyone short of a billionaire or with support of one of two parties is going to be impossible, let alone a BOR zealot, which we need.

Stryker, I hear you. There was a time when it was an OBLIGATION to serve, and in inconvenient one at that. Which was humbly and respectfully done (for the most part, right?).

Now, it's seen as a lottery winning (for the most part, right?), and the man at the helm at the moment actually IS making things not just better, but GREAT again. Methinks out of frustration from all those previous (of late) who destroyed all that they touched. That would be the opposite of Midas so that is then the Sidam Touch.

The oBOMBination had the Sidam Touch,,,,, and your current Commander In Chief (no pun intended) is fixing EVERYTHING.

The Democrat party have pretty much chosen to go full on hard leftist, Communist. A well as become a platform for hating violently everyone that is not worshiping whatever "alternative" lifestyle choice is currently in vogue. In addition they have hitched their wagon fully to getting as many Mexicans in here to vote, legally or illegally to be their new power base.

This has left a lot of traditional Democratic voters, including many African Americans in the lurch so to speak.

The Republican party has been doing it's best to make itself stink to those that vote for it. I'm not sure if they fully understand that having your supporters vote for you because you are slightly less bad than the other party is really a poor long term plan for survival.

Trump's election victory was an important sign post and learning moment over money vs substance.
Most of the politicians on both sides are money whores and think that the more money you raise = you will win.
Fundraising is pretty much the primary goal of both parties, as they still think, more money = we stay in power.
Trump showed them that you could spend like 1/3rd as much as your opponent but if your message was right & you were media savvy, you could win.
