Rifle Scopes Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

My scope(#205)had dual spring detents in the elevation turret. The windage was different, it had a dual spring for the MTC, and a single for the .1mil.

Jerry sent out two new dual spring detents so I installed one in each turret in the .1mil position. Both the .1 clicks and the MTC detents are much more pronounced and have a nice snap to them.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

Mine was actually the opposite, 1 spring in the elevation and two in the windage.

But Jerry said it was more about the new parts being harder then the original so they didn't wear out as quickly.

+1, mine as well....

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

I got a set from PR and installed them. It really does improve the feel and should prevent 'missing' a click when you go past a full mil 'clunk'. On step 1 of the instructions it says remove toggle and turret cap. This means flip up toggle lever and 'unscrew' toggle until threads are no longer engaged (about 10 turns) then pull up on cap. First cap came off fairly easy but windage had alot more resistance. I'm very happy with my PR scopes.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

Just spent two days in the desert winding both turrets all over the place with the new detents installed. Worked without a hitch. This is one hell of a scope.

Big Thanks to Jerry and Premier, big improvement. Not many if any manufactures would allow there customers to put a screw drive on their product, it takes allot of faith in their customers being a cut above. I think that this has proved how valuable it is to have a manufacture in the US with the ability to respond to their customer’s request. Especially with out having to return to the mfg. for installation.

If you can hear the clicks, and you can easily dial 1 click past the mil, and you can accuratly count clicks withought looking, than you should be good. If not, get the replacment parts.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

I talked with Jerry at Premier last week to inquire about whether I'd need the double-spring upgrade in my new 3-15x50 Gen 2 MD. He said the upgrade applies to some of the early serial numbered scopes. I gave him the serial number (000438) and he thought I might need them. I got them very quickly.

Initially, I thought my scope already had the double-spring 'clickers' installed but it did need the upgrade. I swapped in the double-spring 'clickers' without any trouble.

I have SN: 000438 - This may help some guys figure out if they need to request the newer 'clickers' or not.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

The new clickers may still make a difference. Jerry said it was an issue of some of the early clickers using softer metal and wearing out quickly. Applies to even some of the double/double scopes, from what I gather.

I looked again. I was wrong... there was (1) double-spring and (1) single-spring 'clicker' in each turret.

I edited my post above to remove the inaccurate info.

Thanks Ratbert.

Good to know. I believe mine is #000422

Yup, just verified the in the Liberty Optics giveaway thread, mine is 422. Gonna send an email.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

Serial number 000517 needed them as well.

When I spoke with Paul yesterday, he said that they would be providing "new" dual spring clicker detents for serial numbers less than ~700.

Hope this helps...

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

Thanks pb m3 . I am sure everyone was wondering where the change over on the 'clickers' was. As rungun said, if you can count clicks and dial 1 click past the 1 mil 'clunk', you are good to go.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

Got the clickers in today. A big thanks to the crew over a Premier Reticles.

I never thought that the clicks weren't that bad on the Premiers. I have felt other high end scopes that had "mushier" adjustments then the Premiers. The S&Bs to me had the best feel out of all the scopes I have played with. But now, holy crap, the feel is right up there with the S&Bs.

Re: Fixing The Premier "mushy" clicks

I just almost finished changing out my replacement parts. However, I ran into a a problem on the top knob with the other triangular piece. How does it go back in?

I’m going to necro this old thread. Anyone alive that will have that component? I’m an original buyer back in the day and it’s served me well but my elevation is mushy as hell, barely feel the .1 increments.
