Hey guys,

Just got my Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 AO with mil-dot reticle in, and just mounted it on my FN (well, mounted it half-assedly as it's dark, and I prefer doing proper mounting in the daylight). Just figured I'd make a pic and show y'all. Not the best scope one can buy, I know, but I'm just a poor, broke Dutchman on disability =)

Re: FN 30-11, current setup (new scope)

Thanks for the compliment =) And as requested, a close-up pic of the mount.

It's essentially the STANAG mount that comes with the rifle for putting on the 4x28 that comes with it, with a STANAG to Picatinny rail to it and standard 1 inch rings that previously held a Redfield Widefield 3-9x40. Mounts a bit high like that, but can't really be helped. And that's what the Blackhawk cheekpad is for.

The mount:

And for fun, some pics of the original scope:

Re: FN 30-11, current setup (new scope)

The cheekpad works great! And I have an old group somewhere, but it was only at 50 meters and I couldn't get a proper cheekweld back then so it isn't the best even at that distance. And I recently found out the barrel cleaning solution I had was crap, and I was essentially shooting for a while with a still dirty barrel. I should go to the 100 meter range soon now that everything comes together and see how it does then.

The old group, about .512, using 147 grain Sellier & Bellot FMJ's:

Note the other holes outside the Birchwood sticker are from a FAL, as I forgot to bring my targets and just grabbed an old one.

And yeah, the 4x is a great scope! Really clear. I just didn't like the #1 German Post Sight too much

post that (Hensoldt?) scope for sale on the hide. It won't last very long. Looks like a challenge to use that scopes older mounting system with a modern day action. I'm sure some gunsmith could make it work.

I'm totally keeping it, as it's the original one that came with the rifle out of the FN factory =)

I also think there's adapters to go from Picatinny to STANAG and stuff like that.

Mounted the Vortex yesterday at the range. Did some shooting. Pretty happy with the results, using standard Sellier & Bellot 147 grains at 50 meters.

Smallest group, the one in the sticker, measures about .31

Still need to fine-tune the zero some, but all in all not too bad I think.
