Gunsmithing FN SPR Safety will not disengage

Anybody have any idea why the safety would be stuck, and I mean stuck like welded in place, in the safe possition (I call it possition 3, not fire and not in the middle) and would not disengage? Could something be jamming it or not installed correctly?

I have tried everything and it will not move a millimeter. Rifle will not fire and safety will not disengage......

More info please. What precipitated this event? (How'd you do it?) Can you move the bolt?

Nothing, It would take a hammer to move it.

Was the bolt in the rifle when shipped from FN or did you put in? You should <span style="font-weight: bold">not</span> be able to cycle the bolt with the safety in the number 3 position.

Bolt was in place in the receiver as shipped. Yes I can cycle the bolt. That's what I thought all along. When I saw that the safety was engaged after cycling the bolt I thought to myself "that's strange" and I was thinking maybe I just pushed it over while cycling the bolt with my jacket slieve or something. Something has got to be broken or not put together right. I just called tech and left a message.

Owning several mod 70's doesn't make an expert, but, I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be able to cycle the bolt if in "position 3".

What kind of work did FN do? Anything with the bolt?

Absolutely correct^^^. I broke the cocking piece on my 70, couldn't move the safety, but could still cycle the bolt. Pull the bolt out and see if the "tail" of the cocking piece is sheared off. Just an idea.
