“Overall, currently about 43.4 Million acres are foreign owned. Maine is the highest with 21.1% Of all their land is foreign owned,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Mike Strain.
In Louisiana, a little over 8% of our land is foreign owned, mostly by Canada. But the main concern is countries like China, who were referred to as potential bad actors.

Montana Farmers Union President Walt Schweitzer, came across the study while researching the Right to Repair in the United States.
The interim study resolution led to the Economic Affairs Interim Committee inviting Montana Farmers Union, Frontline Ag Solutions, Torgerson's LLC, and Montana Farm Bureau to attend a March 4 hearing.
"You guys are not naïve," Schweitzer exclaimed to the Committee. "You hear all the time how data is being hacked. That data is hack-able. Much of these tools that are being built, have been built by China. So they have a back door to this data."

Bribes and lies to reduce food production in America.

WASHINGTON, April 11 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's administration is offering farmers money for adopting practices that store carbon in the soil to fight climate change, but Reuters interviews with soil science experts and a review of U.S. Department of Agriculture research indicate doubt that the approach will be effective.
Farm practices like planting cover crops and reducing farmland tilling are key to the USDA's plan for slashing agriculture's 10% contribution to U.S. greenhouse gas emissions as the U.S. pursues net-zero by 2050. Ethanol producers also hope those practices will help them secure lucrative tax credits for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) passed in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

It started with the attack on nitrogen fertilizer. Drive up the input costs and the only thing we will be able to afford to eat will be bugs. Those antifa fucks are probably attacking the chicken farms from upwind as well.

There is no profit in generics. It’s a volume game.

Once off patent the primary mfg is usually out of the product in 10 years.

If there is a discontinued “working” product it’s because there is a newer more effective, less side effects, less drug interaction product available.

No one stops making products that are profitable.

Take Freon R12.. effective as hell. Discontinued because everyone was making it, and Dupont wasn't making a profit anymore.
Dupont, makes R134, pays politicians, to say, R12 is evil and we must use R134a to save the world. Dupont makes $$$. 10 years later, patent wears off.
Enter the world of 1234YF. Ahh, new patent, new protection, pay politicians, make $$.
Don't worry, in another 10 years, another new world saver will be found.

Having the industry hamstrung with generics at zero margin stagnates advances in medicine. There’s no ROI so investment houses won’t fund research.

Not saying old stuff doesn’t work well but especially on the drug front some of these new drugs are almost miracles for terminal or chronic conditions.

You say the old stuff still works but its market availability as generics impedes the ROI for the new stuff. That generics that are cheaper and could be used across all income spectrums needs to take a backseat to newer drugs that are priced out of the market of a lower income demographic. It may be miraculous (doubtful), but if only those that can afford it or those with insurance have it approved can get access to it how miraculous is it really? So those who can’t afford it suffer. All in the name of ROI.

You just showed how erroneous our medical system is. But it does explain the ivermectin fiasco and how people died because of others chasing money.

If there is no ROI how do you run a company.

Over the last 4-5 years we got out of the “generic” calcium / Tylenol product market.

To grow the company and increase revenue the infrastructure needed to increase the same amount as changing markets is cost prohibitive.

So I could just sit there and loose market share and make less money or move on.

Think a company can make money and stay in business just making generics for “poors”.. not happening

BEIJING, May 8 (Reuters) - China has approved the safety of gene-edited wheat for the first time as Beijing cautiously moves forward with commercial growing of genetically modified food crops.
China has in the past year ramped up approvals of genetically modified (GM) corn and soybean seeds that are higher-yielding and resistant to insects and herbicide to secure its food security, but the uptake remains slow and cautious due to concerns about the impact to health and ecology.

Unlike genetic modification, which introduces foreign genes into a plant, gene editing alters existing genes to change or improve its performance and is viewed by some scientists as less risky than genetically modifying them.
China mostly imports GM crops such as corn and soybeans for animal feed and grows non-GM varieties for food consumption. Many Chinese consumers remain concerned about the safety of GM food crops.

Anyone know where the $1.2 trillion that pays for food stamps comes from ? It comes from a program that was set up to help the farmers.
Farmers are being left out while the Government feeds the masses.

The Farm Bill is a large piece of legislation that's home to 85% of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP) formerly known as Food Stamps. It's a major cause of division at party lines.

Shares of agricultural equipment maker Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) are plunging today after the company’s lowered financial outlook overshadowed its better-than-anticipated second-quarter performance.

During the quarter, Deere’s top line declined by nearly 12.4% year-over-year to $15.24 billion. Still, the figure came in ahead of expectations by $1.95 billion. Similarly, its EPS of $8.53 topped estimates by $0.67. In the comparable year-ago period, Deere’s EPS stood at $9.65.​

Deere’s Q2 performance points to continued pressure of tepid demand for farm machinery owing to lower crop prices. Net sales in Deere’s Production and Precision Agriculture segment declined by 16% to $6.58 billion owing to lower shipment volumes. Concurrently, its Small Agriculture and Turf net sales declined by 23% to $3.18 billion. The company’s Construction and Forestry segment, in comparison, fared better with a 7% decline in net sales.

AND R12 utilized lower pressure systems that lasted much longer because they suffered fewer leaks. A good R12 a/c system could go for 20-25 years.

..... a very pessimistic view on demand...... Even the OPEC members see a worldwide recession on the horizon.

Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz bin Salman, who chairs the OPEC+ coalition, said Sunday that there is no “rocket science” to forecasts and acknowledged that, where the OPEC report may be making a “higher assessment” on the call for crude, there are likewise “those who are also taking a very pessimistic view on demand.” He flagged that the OPEC+ group is approaching supply-demand considerations with prudence and precaution, saying of the prospect of impending market tightness, “I will believe it when I see it.”

US farmers opt for soy to limit losses as all crop prices slump​

CHICAGO, June 4 (Reuters) - Mark Tuttle planted more soy and less corn on his northern Illinois farm this spring as prices for both crops hover near three-year lows and soybeans' lower production costs offered him the best chance of turning a profit in the country's top soy producing state.
He even planted soybeans in one of his fields for a second straight year, breaking the traditional soy-corn-soy rotation for field management. He and many other farmers are hoping to just minimize losses.

Planting more soy at a time of sputtering demand from importers and domestic processors will only serve to drive prices lower, further swell historically large global supplies and erode U.S. farm incomes

But Midwest farmers' other main options - seeding more corn or leaving fields fallow - could have resulted in even wider losses.

A few random thoughts:

Is there anything in the US Constitution or Bill of Rights that gives the Government the right to control food ?
Impossible to "Fact Check" but, it is starting to appear that the US Government is the largest purchaser of food in America.
If the US Government stopped buying food and feeding people (worldwide), how long would it be before the food riots started ?
When food goes into a child's mouth, who's responsibility is it to make sure it is OK ?.... Parent or Government ?
