Most of us have to drive through access gates at some point of our driving careers. We have had numerous incidents with gates swinging in the wind and hitting vehicles. This guy caught a gate that was probably hidden by the tree line as he rounded the corner. Share the following pictures as you see fit with your work groups.

Look at all four pictures to see how lucky this guy really was.

I bet the first thing the driver checked was to see if Mr. Wiggles and his two neighbors were still there.

Someone sent me this and I thought I would share and remeber you have to be careful out there! Mr. Wiggles Safety is in your hands…!!

Carry On

I dunno. From where I sit, and remembering the last time I looked under a hood, there's really not much mass at all on that "rail-path".

The side fender which is hollow, possibly some air-intake ducting which is again hollow and "lightly built", the electrics which are just wires and relays and plastic, the firewall itself-sheet metal, more electrics and air ducting. Lastly, the plastic facade.

So yeah, he's lucky. Hugely. But that's just my opinion.

This accident happen close to where I live and work in southern CO.

Pictures and story was passed around to all Oilfield companies in area……

Contrary to popular belief the truck was not going that fast it is a private drive to a ranch with the houses just around the corner just out of sight….posted speed is 15 mph and Rancher will deny company access to Natural Gas wells for any faster if you do………

….from cattle guard to direction truck is facing is 40 ft to stop sign and entrance to two lane hwy.

Truck was slowing for cattle guard it dips and is rough and getting ready for stop. Driver was already breaking on impact……estimated truck speed was around 10 mph…

…This just go’s to show you looks can be deceiving and that 7,000lbs of pickup can still do a lot of damage at 10 mph…

Generally the gate is pushed back in to the brush…but what was determined is that a heavy truck….aka Water Truck or Rig up Truck came though and bounced the gate out just a little into roadway….at the angle it was… from the driver seat he couldn’t see it…but I agree he was a little close to the bushes anyway.

And that's exactley what saftey man stated as well.....

Moral of story is don’t drive to close to bushes you never know what’s going to jump out and get you…..

….and driver was ok no injuries!!!!!
