Not sure what the question is? Coating them would be no problem. Would look pretty cool on a barrel. Hmmmmm. Paul.

Minimal weight savings as the flats are very shallow. Just eye candy, if somebody wanted something different. Would look very cool on a barrel. Coated in matte black would look sweet.
I like that a lot more than grooved fluting. I've had the milled fluting common to PTG bolts suck in the lip of a couple AICS mags and pooch them to where I needed to mess with them to get them to properly feed again.

I really like the looks. I would love to see a dimpled golf ball pattern too!
someone does barrels like this, i just cant recall who. it was a twisted picket looking, wrought iron look. they also did octagonal and a few other patterns. i dont wanna swear, but i think it was black hole? i liked it and these look good, but id get the wide round bottom flutes on mine, just my preference
I think those would look awesome on a shined up benchrest rig but I'd probably go more low key on a tactical setup. The idea is awesome and they are definitely unique.
