So this morning I was in town helping my buddy at the local gun shop unpack and inventory a new shipment in from Remington. The second box I picked up was labeled as an SPS Stainless in 300 Win Mag. No big deal, there were three of them on the order. But when I opened the box what do I see before me but a Sendero SF II! Shiny stainless, black flutes, HS stock, the works. I check the box again, yes it still says SPS Stainless. Checked the serial number on the label, yep that matches what's on the rifle, but it sure as hell isn't a stainless SPS.

So Remington just sold my buddy a $1,400 Sendero for the price of a $600 SPS Stainless. Good times

By the way, I told him I'd pay him the $600 in cash right then, but he passed on the deal...

Somebody who actually ordered a Sendero SF II is going to be PI$$ED OFF when they open their box and all they see is a damn SPS!!!

FWIW, there was a thread a while back about similar Remington QC issues, packaging rifles in the wrong boxes, putting same model rifles chambered in one caliber in boxes indicating a different caliber, etc. Unfortunately...it is just a sign of the times for Remington.

That's the first thing I thought too, but when I saw that the serial number on the label matched the one on the gun I wasn't so sure.

I rememeber that other thread. Wasn't that one about R15's or '25s?

I was at Dicks sporting goods today in Chattanooga, TN looking over their rifles. They have two SPS Tactical's in .223 marked solely .223 varmint. I tried to tell the guy behind the counter that they were labeled wrong, but he obviously new way more than I.

Dang it man!!! You were so close to one hell of a deal. If your buddy is like mine, it will be in his safe for about a year, he will not shoot it and when his inventory gets a little low you will walk in one day and see it on the rack.
So close...

Its so hard to find good help anymore. Something happened to my buddy with Springfield Armory. He ordered a 1911 GI and they sent him an EMP.
