I have been using a Galco cop ankle band for 6 or 7 years now. Lightweight and not bulky. The retaining strap is just a piece of velco and a hammerless revolver is secure, yet comes right out with a little tug. It's finally looking ratty enough to buy a second:) Maybe a Christmas present to myself.

    Hope this helps,

Another option is Renegade holsters. Carry a S&W 442 daily for the last several years in one of there holsters. Also have one for a Glock 27 that I wear sometimes as well. Last time I checked they do not have a website but a google search will result in a contact number.

Another recommendation for the Galco Ankle Glove. The one in the picture lasted me nine years and was worn a minumum of 300 days a year. I just picked up a new one a few months back and they haven't changed the design, build quality or materials since I bought the first. I expect to get another nine years out of this one.

The Ankle Glove would serve you well. I've been in many a foot chase, jumped fences, ran up stairs, etc. wearing mine and it's never come loose. I wear mine half over the top of my boots so the size should work as well.

What makes the Renegade better than the Galco? I haven't seen one other than pics but it seems to be a roughly fitted pouch with either a secure strap which would have to be removed before drawing the handgun or an elastic strap which doesn't appear to have much retention ability. Just asking based on pics here, not bashing.

IMO the gold standard is the Aleesi ankle holster...when you order it ask for the boot strap extension. It's a little spendy but will most likely be the first and last holster you try for a secure/comfortable ankle rig.

For reference I used mine for a Glock 26 and have some pretty sizable ankles.

I have a N.I.B. Fobus ankle rig if you are interested in it.Customer ordered it and never picked it up .After a year I don't think he wanted it.Shoot me a P.M. with address.

Milt Sparks makes an excellent secure leather ankle hoslter with no strap. It's not in the catalog, but Tony will make a custom one on request if you provide your ankle size. I have used the same one since the late 1990's; it's the best and the only ankle rig that I use.

The renegade is a basic holster, but has served me well. I am at the point that it needs to be replaced so I may be looking at one of the other suggestions.

Phylodog were you wearing the Galco with duty boots?

Don't laugh now, but I have experienced some pretty good service from an all nylon Uncle Mikes ankle rig. I have done some research on the Alessi and the Galco and think I may try a Galco as well.

Yes Sir, Rocky boots. I will admit to having the ankles of a 12 year old girl however. With the lower half of the neoprene wrap covering the top of my boots I can get the velcro fully closed so there is be plenty of velcro available should I wake up tomorrow with the manly ankles I should have been born with.
