Apparently Kentucky is pre-filing a bill to ban "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines with their newly elected democrat Governor taking over. I don't think it will pass, given that both the state house and senate are pretty solidly Republican. Beashear winning wasn't about Ky turning blue, it was about Bevin hurting the teachers' feelings regarding their unfunded pensions.

Anyway, good job, fellow Kentuckians. You've elected a man who clearly intends to identify with the Democrats in D.C. instead of identifying with you. All because of a single issue.

This bill has exactly zero chance of ever being signed into law; hell, it may not ever make it out of committee.

Remember years back when a lawmaker filed a bill to buy a submarine to patrol the Ohio River and sink Indiana gambling boats? Yeah, silly shit with no hope of passage isn’t uncommon in the Commonwealth.

I agree with you. I think the bill is DOA. But...hopefully it will make people sober up real quickly in their drunken, Bevin hating rage.

This comment fit Virginia less than a year ago...

Kentucky isn’t Virginia.

Kentucky lacks the liberal voter bloc in NoVA and Republicans have supermajorities in both the House and Senate.

Bevin lost his reelection because he was a douche that alienated historical Republican voters, as evidenced by Republicans winning literally every other state office.

Virginia actually went blue though. Kentucky is still solidly red, even in the latest elections. Beshear only won because Bevin pissed off the teachers because he was trying to fix their unfunded pensions. The whole state was stirred up over it. I'm just saying I hope those otherwise conservative people who wanted Bevin out realize that there is a lot more at stake when you vote than a single issue that hits close to home.
