What is your immediate assumption? I was sort of correct. The guest says that the Lion would likely win if it occurs in the wild and the bear likely wins if it is a cage match so to speak. The Gorilla is the smartest and strongest, but would be killed by both the lion and bear. Thoughts?

Didn't I read somewhere that Gorillas have a super high bite force and they've got decent sized fangs. Now if the Gorilla could combine those with Jujitsu black belt skills, then maybe. Can you imagine a Gorilla trained to crudley use a sword. The sheer force, eek?!
When I was a kid we went to a zoo and the King of his cage rushed so fast and hit the cage bars so loudly and hard it totally freaked me out(back then we weren't all that far away and no bullet proof glass separation). I didn't care I just wanted far away from that amount of fury and power. For the Gorilla he was just having fun showing off in low power mode.

All of us guys have always fantasized watching these kinds of battles even as debased as it is. Pretty much a cruelty but betcha some elites have arranged them before.

It's just that a Grizzly can be twice the size which is hard for the other two to overcome.

If Gorillas are anything like as smart as Baboons and Chimps are, imagine what one could do if you taught it how to use a club?

If they were that smart they would already have use of the club and receive a monthly welfare check. 😄

Sorry, that response belongs in the socially unacceptable thread.

A brief summary of the video. The guest, Jon Danaher thinks that combat or fighting comes down to skill, "physical attributes," aggression, experience and ability to initiate combat. The lion has an abundance of all. A lion is an ambush hunter that has to face constant danger and challenges, including taking down large and dangerous game like cape buffalo. Lions also have to fight within their own pride and this often to the death. The Grizzley bear would have the edge over the lion in a confined space due to having more weight and better endurance. Also, that the Bear may be able to shake off/tear away a bite to the throat by the lion. It was interesting when he mentioned that Leopards commonly take out Gorilla's by biting a major artery in their leg and then letting them bleed out.
He also mentioned that the bear does not face any real competition from other species that can kill them in their natural habitats, but do sometimes run from mountain lions.

Flawed comparison. Siberian tiger is hundreds of pounds heavier than a lion. The increased size and overall agility advantage make it better equipped to deal with the brute strength of a grizz or gorilla. My money is on the tiger.

Having spent some time behind the scenes in the Oakland zoo, I will say the lions are terrifying. They are fucking sadistic psychopathic killers and they would instantly maul you if given half a chance. The tigers are more aloof and don't give a shit about you. They would also end you, but they would be purring as they played with your severed head like a basketball.

Then the comparison needs to be Siberian tiger -V- polar bear. And my money is on the polar bear

Chimps have worse fangs than gorillas, and have ben known to kill gorillas.

Lions often take down buffalos 4x-5x their body weight, often by either breaking tendons in a hind limb or breaking the spine if solo before the clamp down on the neck/snout for their hallmark move. There have also been lions tossed and killed by those horns (RIP Dark Mane Avoca). But in a one on one with a bear who also has claws and teeth - tough call.

They briefly include tigers and say that they are bigger and stronger than Lions, but end up settling on lions in the comparison.

Except each other.....ever seen 2-900# grizzlies go at it? It is a helluva sight. You can hear the impact from 400 yards....I know, we watched.
