Gotta love Texas Moms.

They should require her to take more target practice and learn to discharge multiple rounds.

Good for her providing some instant justice.
It's just a real shame that thug is still breathing.

Carjackers need to be shot on sight.
Carjackers trying to carjack cars with children in them should hope they get shot on sight and if captured have very bad things done to them first before stringing them up.

How does the guy live after being shot in the face?

Believe it or not, there's plenty of pistol cartridges that can actually bounce off the skull if hit at the proper angle. Will fuck the skull up, but the brain will still be intact. Then again your brain would have to be pretty fucked up to begin with to want to fuck with a Texan. Especially a Texan mama defending her offspring.

I'd recommend .40 S&W or .45ACP and above for good head shot results.
Not that a hot 9MM won't do just as good, but once people step down to the .380 or .32 / .25 / .22 the perp might survive.

Probably got shot through the cheek, in one side, out the other (minus some teeth and maybe part of his tongue). Had a buddy take a sniper round that way in Iraq; major trauma and recovery, but it is survivable (though he lost most of his left jaw, requiring a cadaver bone graft and a shit load of prosthetic teeth).

Awesome, another good guy (gal) with a gun.

But to depraved anti-gun liberals, the preferred outcome would have been a defenseless woman and child at the mercy of a thug.
They are also thugs Partisan thugs. The beatings will continue till morale
improves type.

The CCW I carry is loaded with hot .357 Magnum rounds and it makes quite a fireball. So if the bullet doesn't stop the threat at close range, the fireball will immolate them and send them running into the horizon! :D

As long as you remember at night what is going to happen so you don't windup unable to see for a minute after the flash.

On a more serious note, let me 'splain CCW law in Texas. He was in the car, driving away...his head was the clearest visible target. She shot him once and stopped the threat. To shoot again would be a criminal act. This lady not only can shoot, but knows the law. She was not charged...unusual in itself if you are familiar with self defense shooting. The first thing CCW class tells you if you are forced to defend yourself is expect to get arrested and have your weapon seized.

I live DFW area and I always lock my truck up when I get out , ... even to pump fuel . Yes they will hop in while you are on other side.. 3 weeks ago I was filling up my truck ( Ram mega on 35 with a 6 inch lift ) The passenger window was down about half way . ( I forgot about that ) . I stepped around to grab the window washer . As I step back around I see this kid running like mad across the parking lot . Guy next to me said he was tying to reach in the truck . He yelled at him and he ran off . I miss the AZ 21 foot rule for sure . Here its a bit more tricky on how it can go down .

Generally if you can stick to what the police use, and say he was still moving towards me or in an attacking pose, multiple rounds expended are fine as long as you clearly word it like that. Plenty of case history of that being kosher. Generally works out okay for the public and of course 100% of the time for the police.

I think most likely being a woman with children in Texas and a strange criminal man trying to steal her car / kidnap her kids, I don't think the police would have been in a hurry to be on the receiving end of righteous indignation from the local citizenry even if she had shot several times.

seriously, you can only shoot once in texas?? i took a citizen's/police class (virginia) a few years back and they ran everyone thru a simulator. i took the bad guy down with one shot but was chided by the cop for only taking one shot. and i agree with him, shoot until the threat is very clearly incapacitated, don't shoot one shot and wait to see what happens.

Who gets to decide when the threat has been stopped? The person who is there with the gun or the asst. DA having a latte at Starbucks?

FS1 You decide , but along with this you must have a clear and defined threat . And how you word it to the officer . Not sure if anyone recalls the video from several years a go where a store clerk shoots it out with two men one gets away he walks back in and puts another round into the guy on the ground,, ( who is no longer a threat ) That is now murder not self defense .
