Hello everyone. This is my first post so I thought I'd share my college graduation gift. It's a Savage 10FP with a fairly common setup; B&C stock, Ken Ferrell base, Warne rings, Karsten, Leupold, etc.

This was from a "Tight Group" contest at a local range. Three rounds at 100. Each square is 1/2". It's the first time I shot hand loads through it. Sierra 168MK, 41.9 Varget, Lapua brass, CCI BR primer, 2.838" OAL. The signature is the range owner. He signed it as a witness to the winning group.

This was just for fun a few months later using 168gr Hornady TAP. I printed off a target with common house flies on it; 100yd

Thanks. He's been collecting, shooting and reloading for more than 40 years. He's forgot more than I'll ever know. He's all for adopting new gun buddies, lol.

Re: Graduation gift from my Dad

Graduation took a while. Working full time and going to school at night was rough. Funny thing is, when I graduated the school offered me a part time job teaching my trade. So, while my students are working on their drawings, I'm checking out the hide!

Re: Graduation gift from my Dad

Congrats to you and to your dad for a cool graduation gift. Something you can use over and over and when it is shot out......rebarrel or make the basis of a custom.

Re: Graduation gift from my Dad

My Dad is old school. He shoots a 25-06 that he had built many years back by a gunsmith around Stone Mountain, GA named TC Kennon. TC is no longer with us, but that rifle is wicked accurate. It's funny to watch new shooters sit beside him at the club. Old man with a played out rifle, how well could he shoot. I try to learn as much as I can from him.

Re: Graduation gift from my Dad

I totally agree. I came home one night from school and my wife said, "Supper is is in the oven." I open the oven to find a Kimber Custom Eclipse II and a bag of Krystals!

Good shootin' and congratz on the graduation!

Yeah, I gave the GF an FN 9mm. I don't think it was for any occasion, other than the fact that she owned no guns.

I know, I know, we're working on that

.

And guns in the oven, I LIKE THAT!

I think he meant that is a rifle you NEVER get rid of, because of the meaning behind it

Re: Graduation gift from my Dad

That's one thing that I promised my Dad, it will be shot. He was fairly stoked after the first time he shot it as well. He had to get used the the trigger. I've also got a Savage 93R17 BTVS so the transition was easy.
