Memes are funny and all but there’s gotta be a few nuts that’s are ultra fortified and gonna take out hordes of praetorian guards

If you haven’t bought that box by now you’re living under a rock…
What about the people that haven’t turned 18/21?

What about the people who have just woke up?

And we all will need more ammo eventually.

Retarted thinking you have

I've had to fill out a form for every firearm I've purchased from a store here in GA for decades, I don't see what the paranoia is all about.

Not everyone buys every gun from a store. You might have heard about private purchases with cash or private trades.

I left the NMCC in the Pentagon about 7 years ago, and I can absolutely say that any kind of electronic device that could be used for communication (phone, smart watch etc...) had to be left outside the "working space".

It has been quite a while since people have been able to remotely record off of another device, even when that device was turned off by the user.

You want a secret conversation? Leave the electronic devices at home and go for a walk in the woods.

Yes, which is why I specifically stated "from a store". Reading. It's a skill.

Half of what I own were cash in a parking lot.

In order for private party purchases to be legal you have to know that the purchaser can legally own a firearm. If I'm looking for an EDC, a defensive weapon, or any firearm for that matter I want there to be no doubt it was a legal purchase.

Another issue of concern is the stance your credit card company may take on firearms. They could possibly deny the purchase if you are using their card. I have experience with Wells Fargo denying a CC purchase so it's not a stretch to think some anti-gun nut that runs one of these might decide to block firearms purchases. Use cash and not worry about it...until cash goes away

Oh goody. Someone who believes in prior restraint laws.

I wouldn't carry a firearm if I believe restraint laws worked well. In any case if I didn't want my foot print to be on the radar then I wouldn't be making statement like parking lot purchases on the web lol.

All my private sales required showing my GA weapons license. Those were his terms.

He's a friend. No issue.

Pretty close.

An unlicensed individual may transfer a firearm to another unlicensed individual residing in the same State, provided that he or she has no reason to believe the buyer is prohibited by law from possessing firearms.

If you don't know the person how do you know you aren't purchasing a stolen firearm?

We need to support the companies that are NOT on board with this like Discover. Make it a financial windfall to pick up more $$$

unfortunately with shipping, that boat has sailed

I love the idea that there is a single gun owner on this forum who isn't going to get railed in a nationwide confiscation push. The only reason they want something like this is so they don't have to trot out the truly terrifying shit they do in court and can instead blame it on this credit card bullshit.

Get real - your whole life is fucking profiled down to the T and you aren't walking away if you are on here. End of story.

If you aren't already on a bunch of lists you are a worthless piece of shit.
I just assumed as soon as I started jumping through NFA hoops that I'm on a list that's easily accessible by people wanting to kick down my door and shoot my dogs. Joining here pretty much solidified my belief that it was true. so to those pissed about this...

Most vendors on GB for example and some smaller firearms companies charge 3% for using a credit card so offer to pay with check/money order. Use cash for local purchases.

Of course this would be a pain compared to using a credit card but an option none the less for GB.

Better yet sign up for the PX if your not already there’s a lot of stuff for sale right here.

EDIT: I called/contacted several firearms related companies to ask about various forms of payment accepted.
Midway USA, Palmetto State Armory, SG ammo, and Primary Arms all accept Visa gift cards for payment but none of them accept personal checks or money orders. They mentioned it can take up to 48 hours for Visa gift cards to clear compared to a credit card.

Brownells does accept personal checks and money orders/cashiers checks for payment. No cash discount. You have to call Brownells @ (800) 741-0015 and ask for order processing. You provide the part numbers, the rep gives you the grand total and order number, you then mail a check/money order with the order number to Brownells. The rep is researching if Brownells holds the check/money order for 7-10 days to clear or if they go ahead and process the order same day check is received.

Visa gift card is the easiest option by far however check is an option with Brownells.

This is a good read on the topic - how we got here and where we are likely going:

I saw that as well, they have a good point. As mentioned, they already do this for human trafficking, money laundering and other illegal activities. Purchasing a gun (legally) is still a legal activity, but this push for the credit card activity is more for future laws. What if they pass a law that says you cannot purchase more than 200 rounds of ammo in a given year, this would give them "suspicious activity" when they see you went to any of the numerous online ammo stores and made purchases, you might not have even purchased ammo but it is "suspicious" none the less and cause for them to send the gestapo and harass you at the least.

This kind of BS is exactly what makes Bitcoin attractive. Untraceable & Completely out of their control. If the Clown Show keeps current pace Cripto will keep grabbing market share.
Doubtful, this why .gov is interested in BC, they can shutdown purchases directly, etc...

Visa did push back:

In a letter obtained by CBS News, sent by Visa on Wednesday in response to congressional Democrats who supported the plan, the company said, “We believe that asking payment networks to serve as a moral authority by deciding which legal goods can or cannot be purchased sets a dangerous precedent.”

Visa wrote, “We understood Amalgamated Bank’s request to be justified, at least in part, by an interest in blocking transactions that would fall under such a new category, and Visa’s rules expressly prohibit blocking of legal transactions under an MCC.”…
Supossedly, Visa caved, because of the kiddy porn accusations?

Statement from Brownells regarding MCC classification:

“I’m sure you’ve heard a lot in the news recently about major credit companies coming together to create a new merchant category code (MCC) for firearm and ammunition retailers. We’ve received a lot of inquiries about what this means, how it could impact customers and how Brownells is classified today and in the future.

Therefore, I wanted to reach out to you – a valued customer and friend – to clarify a few things regarding this issue.

Brownells Classification Now & Going Forward

First and foremost, I want you to know that Brownells has long been classified as a “sporting goods retailer” by credit card companies. After conversation with our banking partners, we have confirmed that we will continue to be classified as a SPORTING GOODS RETAILER.

To be clear, we WILL NOT be changing to the new MCC dedicated to firearm and ammunition retailers. This is mainly due to the types of products we predominately sell.

Industry Impacts

Throughout Brownells’ 83-year-history in the firearm industry, we’ve proudly taken a stand for our industry, gun owners in general and the 2nd Amendment – irrespective of whether legislation, regulatory actions or other anti-2A measures have impacted us directly.

Put simply, we’re all in the fight for freedom and privacy together. Are we happy that our MCC code isn’t changing? Yes. However, we are deeply concerned with the impact this new classification may have on firearm owners or prospective firearm owners, local gun stores and even our competitors.

Therefore, you have my word that we will join in any effort to make our voices heard and to educate all parties involved in this matter.

Our Position on Your Privacy

We love offering you firearms, firearm accessories, parts, tools, ammunition, reloading products and all of the accoutrements to outfit your next firearm-related adventure. As shooters, hunters, firearm do-it-yourselfers, and gunsmiths ourselves, nothing brings us more pleasure than to see and hear from you about how our products, content and services help you pursue your passions.

However, I can assure you – our NUMBER ONE priority is the safety, security and privacy of your data. Our promise to you is that we will continue to vehemently guard your personal data and order information, always.

Sincerely,

Chad Martin

CEO, Brownells, Inc.”

I certainly feel this is 100% wrong and it pisses me off to no end; but anybody thinking ATF doesn't already know about your purchase is mistaken. We know they've been keeping records they supposedly were to destroy.
