CHICAGO - An Iowa man was arrested downtown Sunday after police found a rifle and a handgun inside a hotel room near Navy Pier.

Well........ What should he have done differently?

Did you scroll down to see the video of the kids rioting in downtown Chicago.

Duh...not go to a shithole city....

Doc
I know where you are comin' from......... However, for many reasons (medical, family funeral, education, WORK, pick up a vehicle, etc) we have all had to go to a shit hole city. Sometimes, on a road trip, we are forced to make an over night stop while traveling with family.... Many a time I slept with a 1911 under my pillow. For conversation purposes, has anyone left a weapon in a motel room?

Cant use it of its in the room. Why take it in the first place?.. my guns stay with me when i travel and i plan accordingly.

"This employee saw something by entering the room to clean it that likely prevented a tragedy from happening," Brown said.

However, Brown did not say if investigators had determined why the man had the guns in his hotel room.

"There is no previous criminal history of this person nor any other issues in our federal databases, but obviously very concerning given the position of the W Hotel to Navy Pier," Brown said.

aka, "there were no indications of any planned criminal action....but we avoided a tragedy.....what tragedy?...whos to say? 🤷‍♂️....but im sure one was avoided."

yeah, really avoided a tragedy....i mean, over 100 people shot over the weekend, but tragedy avoided

honestly its chicago, dude probably didnt want to become one of the weekends statistics.

also, ProTip: when traveling with guns, especially "illegal" ones, dont leave them in plain sight, and always, always, always, refuse house keeping......that 'do not disturb' sign goes on the door and doesnt come off until you leave.

So they arrest the only guy who didn't shoot anyone in Chicago this weekend , I believe 100 were shot. Housekeeping prevented a shooting, shouldn't they hire maids to clean the homes of all the gang members in Chicago ..............
ive heard from my anonymous sources that Chicago plans to send maids out with their social workers to all shootings.

when the gang members kill the social workers, the maids can clean up the mess.

I have left guns in a motel room while traveling. The hotels around the national shooting complex in San Antonio TX are pretty chill about walking through the lobby with a cased shotgun. I’d guess they see 100s of shooters every month. Left a couple of rifles and a couple of pistols in a hotel room in Kerrville, before a run n gun event. Rifles in hotel rooms during hunting trips, and prs events too. Never in Chi-town, NYC, SF, or LA... Not saying what happened is right, but you gotta know your AO...

I was in Miami for 2 months for job training... Took an AR15 and an HK pistol with me. Took the HK with me in my work bag every day, but the AR stayed in the Nike baseball bat bag in the closet while I was gone. Housekeeping only came into our rooms on like Thursdays or something since we were long term stay so when we left Thursday mornings I took my "baseball bat" with me so I could get a little practice in on the way back to the hotel... Didnt have a problem, but it wasnt in a bad part of town.

It was funny, when I checked in the night before we started, rode up in the elevator with 2 guys that were going to be in the class with me(I knew 1, but not the other). The guy I know says "you planning to play a little baseball while we are out here?" "yea, something like that"... I told him later what it was...he about shit a brick LOL.
