About to buy a SB pm II 5x25x56 trying to decide on what reticle. My question does the H2CMR look to busy at 25x, does any one have any picks on the reticle at full power... Any commets on the MSR reticle

Better than the MPR????

Re: H2CMR or P4 fine Or MSR

Few have used the MSR, as there's only a dozen, maybe 15 in-country.

If you like the P4F, but use your scope on 8-15 power a lot, I like the slightly thicker crosshair better.

It also does away with the weird .8-.9??? gap beside the little center crosshair and puts it at .5 mil.

The big 1 mil hashes vs. the .5 hashes seem to be easier to distinguish when you are in a hurry too (one of my major gripes with all these style reticles).

BUT.....If you want to range with it, NOTHING I have seen, including spotting scopes, comes close to working as well as the fine ranging reticle, it has the fine .1 mil marks and you can easily even see BETWEEN them at higher powers to get .05 mil calls. Mirage becomes the only limiting factor on ranging.

Plus no more trying to use the little hashes at the edge of the field of view, which is problematic at best. It's nice and centered in the FOV, very easy to use, but in no way is distracting while shooting.

Everyone that has seen it, including some top OK shooters, agrees.

I have rounded up two of them!

The H2CMR is a good reticle, but, when under pressure, like at a match, my mind seems to mess up my mil count while holding or ranging because of the round circles, I forget that they are .1 or .5 to the CENTER of the circle, and not to the edge of the circle. The main thing, though, is that the horz. x-hair has no .5 mil hashes and the verticle one does, my mind likes symmetry, I guess.

But this may be more of a training issue with me because I have used the P4F, MLR, TMR style for so long.

Re: H2CMR or P4 fine Or MSR

So I am clear, the H2CMR reticle will only be available on the 5-25x and new 3-20x?

Also, anyone know the line thickness on the H2CMR reticle? I really like the 0.1 mil spacing, but I'm curious about the line thickness. For comparison, the Vortex Razor has 0.1 mil spacing also, and their line thickness is 0.03 mils

Thanks

Yes. The MPR is second.

I couldn't agree more! I'm extremely pleased with mine. I always have been a little held back from purchasing a S&B due to the limited reticle choices. When my premier went TU I decided to give S&B a better look. Looking at the drawing of the H2CMR doesn't give you the full effect. Getting behind it on the actual range does! One of my biggest gripes before I got mine was I wanted some numbers on the reticle. Although I still feel it would be nice its just not necessary as the circles are very easy to count in a hurry. The big kicker for me is the wind holdovers... Love the .2 hold overs!!! I don't think you can beat the H2CMR right now. I'll probably order a 3-20 next year for my .223 just because I'm addicted now.

Re: H2CMR or P4 fine Or MSR

Sounds like mostly everyone prefers the H2CMR to the MPR or P4F. But what about the Klein reticle? How does that compare? And will it be available in the 3-20X also?

Re: H2CMR or P4 fine Or MSR

I felt like the H2CMR was just to Busy and I would end up holding the wrong wind call when under time in matches.

I just got a MSR in friday, I haven't had a chance to shoot it any, just look through it. Chris and Jay at sportoptics have the MSR in stock as of Wednesday, CCW MTC MIL.

The Klein doesn't even come close to comparing. I had a Klein in an S&B. The Klein is only a mil-dot with a half mil hash. That's all.

Couldn't agree more I just took delivery of a S&B 5-25 H2CMR scope and it's an amazing reticle!

Anybody?

Re: H2CMR or P4 fine Or MSR

I recall Rob saying in earlier topic that its same thickness than P4 Fine.

What I luv in MSR is combined simplicity, clarity and versatility. Each area or point of whole reticle has certain simple purpose. No need to memorize anything, even if stress level is at highest. Usually this means lower risk of brainfarts.

Someone mentioned spotting scopes. MSR does milling nicely- but target designation as well since full 10 mil hashnumbers are visible in both axis. It really, really helps in certain situations.
